I live in Texas which is big pickup truck country. I have a big gas-guzzling SUV for towing the boat or for moving large loads and I recently bought a used Prius. I bought the Prius after talking to a guy at a gas station that drove from Austin to Dallas and back (7 hr drive) on less than 1 tank of gas. While I admit the Prius looks like some kind of a space vehicle it is pretty peppy especially in power mode and of course the gas mileage is fantastic. While a normal week of driving the SUV would cost me $100 in gas, the same would be less than $30 in the Prius. What I don't get is all the people that give me funny looks when I'm driving it as if I was some kind of a hippie vegetarian or something.
I've gotten over 51 MPG and I'm spending about $250 less a month on gas! Why all the strange looks from people?
