You see a rash of "accelerator" problems every time a compact vehicle appeals to older customers WHO NORMALLY DRIVE FULL SIZED CARS.

The slightly smaller area for the drivers legs results in drivers accidentally hitting BOTH pedals at the same time with one foot.

Many older drivers start using the center of their foot to hit the brakes due to arthritis

They go to touch the brake pedal and the toe of their foot hits the arm of the gas pedal ...when they push down harder on the brake they wind up also flooring the accelerator.

Its still a design flaw , Toyota should have moved the pedals farther apart , but instead put them as close together as regulations would allow in order to free up room to give the left leg a more comfortable position.
