I know two people who have driven/owned one. Both love it. I've driven one and it's very nice.

I owned a 2010 Prius III and would highly reccomend it over the newer post Fukishima varities.

50+ miles per gallon consistantly and I drove it like a hot rod. It is super fast off the line because electric has way more torque than gas.

The only thing I didn't like is it sits so low to the ground. Because there are so many large SUV's on the road it is hard to see when one is in front of you.

140k miles on my 2005. A key fob transponder unit in the engine went out and they paid for it. Other than that, 44mpg and no repairs in 9 years. Just tires and servicing.

My friend has one and she loves it. She does miss sitting up higher though and thinks that she may trade in for a mid sized hybrid suv when she's ready to get rid of the prius.

Oh, in case you want to know what I drive now. I bought a 4x4 truck that sits up high and gets bad gas mileage. For me safety and being able to see were more important than the mileage, but I still would reccomend the Prius especially for city driving.

I owned a 2010 Prius III and would highly reccomend it over the newer post Fukishima varities.

my somewhat estranged father has one. it is sky blue. it is nasty inside like a really cheap early 90s interior. it is silent which is really dangerous when you drive it in a place with lots of pedestrians. he spends more time looking at the screen telling him the mpg and the battery/engine work split than he spends looking at the road. smooth ride on proper roads, rough as hell on dirt tracks.

Re: Anyone here own a Prius vehicle? Im thinking of getting one for the wife...
I have a 2012 Prius. I took it to an automotive center for something a third-party found needed replacing and the car dealership offered to pay for, and the mechanic found me in the lobby and said: "Never sell that car. Never. I mean it. Never sell it."

I do like the gas savings, traction control, steering control, remote lock/unlock, cabin legroom. We've taken it on long car trips and average seventy cents a mile. That includes sky-high gas price areas like California. Brakes won't need replacing until 100,000 miles.

Nice,
.
If need more HP
you could get a CRV block in there with EK head.
Trick is in the CV Axles.
You need two sets for a total of four to make two.
Basically, Take the CRV cvs differential side and the Civic cvs for the wheel side.
.
After that just add Boost!

Thanks Tasty. The civic is long gone. Man, I've gone through quite a few vehicles in the past few years now that I think about it. I traded for the Civic for much needed cash at the time, plus it was a stick shift. I really liked it and did a few upgrades to it but nothing with the engine or axles.

Took one for a test drive.

Too low to the ground.

Extremely poor rear vision. Rear camera is optional. So you have to get used to watching a screen while you back up.

Acceleration was excellent.

Been hit head on once, did not feel safe in vehicle.

Only 3 accidents I've had were slow moving backing up where vehicles rushed up behind me out of no where.

I passed on it.

I owned a prius, and now I own a 100% electric Nissan LEAF. Best car ive ever owned. No Transmission, oil, or belt replacements ever again. I travel 150+ miles a day. If your work is EV friendly(you can charge the car while working), you get out paying about 0.03 yes 3 cents per mile! Saves me over 1k in gas every month! I have BOSE radio, Headed Front and rear seats and a really great feature is the All-Around View Monitor. Still have a Gas car just incase I ever go somewhere where I can't charge. But gas around me is over $4 a gallon. phew.

obviously they are shit..no one buys another after they sell the first one..No one..it has the worst loyalty rating of any car ever built..and of course gets no where near the claimed mileage as the tiny little gas engine has to run at 7000 rpm just to run 60mph

try trading out of it, the battery cost $7500 and last just 5 years..so the value collapses as the new buyer will be forced to re-battery
