Rep. Chaffetz considers leaving Congress before the end of his term
SALT LAKE CITY —- The day after making a jaw-dropping announcement that he won’t seek re-election, Congressman Jason Chaffetz told FOX 13 he may not even finish his term in office.

“When I contemplate another 200 nights away from home, it is just too much,” Chaffetz told FOX 13 news anchor Bob Evans.

Hours later, en route to Washington, D.C., Chaffetz released a statement, adding: “My future plans are not yet finalized but I haven’t ruled out the possibility of leaving early. In the meantime, I still have a job to do and have no plans to take my foot off the gas.”

The announcement led to more speculation and some suspicion about the 3rd District congressman’s reasons for leaving. The powerful chairman of the House Oversight Committee has repeatedly cited turning 50, growing weary of sleeping on his office cot, and his family being back in Utah.

Re: Rep. Chaffetz considers leaving Congress before the end of his term
He's probably come to the conclusion (like many of us) that trying to reform the completely corrupt Federal government is not possible and just wants to be with his family while it all unravels. I don't blame him. He is wasting his time and he knows it.

Trump can't fix it, no one can. It's just too corrupt. Trillions of dollars have come up missing and no one ever gets prosecuted. This is what happens when empires die.

Re: Rep. Chaffetz considers leaving Congress before the end of his term
I find this whole thing very fishy. Gotta wonder if he's being blackmailed over something. While he's great going after bureaucratic corruption, he's in line with the anti Russia and pro Israel bullshit so it's hard to imagine the usual suspects wanting to blackmail him. Dunno but when he last ran he knew what it was like to be away from home so this is not adding up.
In his poem Human Pride, Marx admits that his aim is not to improve the world, reform or revolutionize it, but simply to ruin it and enjoy it being ruined:

With disdain I will throw my gauntlet full in the face of the world,
And see the collapse of this pygmy giant whose fall will not stifle my ardor.
Then will I wander godlike and victorious through the ruins of the world
And, giving my words an active force, I will feel equal to the Creator.

“Looking for consciousness in the brain is like looking in the radio for the announcer.”

– Nasseim Haramein, Director of Research for the Resonance Project

Normalize every aberrant behavior, bring common all deviancy and let fly the reins of morality and reason, then welcome in that utopia that liberals embrace called communism, that which most Americans with but a shard of ethic would immediately recognize as evil.

He worked and slept in his office until now.

Didn't bother him then.

What does that tell you about what is happening at home?

You may be right. I think it is probably a combination of his disgust with the overwhelming corruption and he has probably been threatened by people he knows will carry out their threats. It's terrible to lose good representatives, but I can't blame them for getting out before they become infected by the cesspool that is Washington DC.
"God forbid we should ever be 20 years without such a rebellion. The people cannot be all, & always, well informed... If they remain quiet under such misconceptions it is a lethargy, the forerunner of death to the public liberty... Let them take arms... What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots & tyrants. " - Thomas Jefferson in 1787

Rep Chaffetz is a good and honorable man.

It is hard for the masses to understand as they are so rare.

There ARE some good and decent men left in the world who DO choose their family over service to their country.

Maybe he has young children at home and a wife who need him. Maybe his family is more important than Washington sewage.

He is honorable. He will do the right thing. It is required.
