[quote:Anonymous Coward 923185:MV8xMDIwNDkyXzE2MDk2MjQ4XzY3RDIyRDM2] Even an old atheist like me recognizes the truth of this. Even though all religions are based on falsehood and manipulation, they provide essential service to people. Churches bind communities, provide a reason for art and music. They give reason for people to work together for mutual communal ends, and to take care of the community as a whole. [/quote]
Original Message
People who live in ''welfare states'' are more likely to depend on the government then to rely on their own self-made status, local community association, as well as church/faith. in France and Belgium, the State becomes the answer to everything and ultimately replaces the Church and/or God as the source of philosophical meaning.
