I can't figure out what we are supposed to get here? A half inch of ice doesn't sound too bad? I'm missing something I guess. I'm sure I'll regret saying this tomorrow. :tounge:
A half an inch of ice will break tree branches and pull power lines down. That will be the bad part. We've lived in this house for 6-1/2 years and the power hasn't gone out yet. Not even during that huge wind storm. So this will be interesting.
I'm in Kettering and there is a really thin layer of ice out there but it has stopped. I guess I've never been though and ice storm so I don't know what to expect. During the wind storm we lost power for 9 days and it was rough, but at least the weather was really nice. I do worry the power will go out and I have a 3 year old, so I'm not sure what I'd do.
I know. We never prepare for anything before. But we have two kids and that changes things. Biggest thing is heat. We have a gas fireplace that we never use, so we'll just have to turn that on an live in that room. We stocked up on food today, so we're fine there. I know we'll be fine, but there are a lot of people who aren't ready. I think DP&L will be on the ball. They had no warning for the wind storm. This time they've had time to get ready, so hopefully they'll get things fixed fast if anything happens.
I sure hope we don't lose power. We have electric everything and no fireplace. I have food stocked up but really do worry about not having heat. I'm just hoping since all the trees were tore up after the wind storm and we have new power poles/lines in our area that may help. Don't know but I did hear DP&L has crews from TN on stand by for help. Any ideas on how to keep warm with electric everything???
On the Ohio river here. Just above Louisville. Rained for the first few minutes and now the ice is flat gettin' it on. Shit. I'm tired of this. I'm hoping it moves to the north quick. I let the dog in (he was out maybe 5 minutes) and he's sleeted up. Crap!
