[quote:Anonymous Coward 7810497:MV8xNzM5NjM1XzI4ODEzNTU3X0IzQTc2QkE1] my great grandma (pure Indian) feather not dot, walked the trail of tears to oaklahoma, then , when she saw it was just a holding pen, she walked BACK to TENESEE. there she built a tiny log cabin and met a cool german/french guy who helped her with the roof and married her. she raised 11 boys there, worked in the fields, broke horses, and was a seemstress. she lived till 103. i met her when i was little girl, i thought she was my grandfather's friend because she still looked and acted so young. all the white women in my family were basically trophy wifes that died in their60's& 70s of diseases that stem from laziness. so not dot, not immigrant, feather wins this competition for sure! stronger than Indian (dot not feather) women. I was taken aback by this statement coming from a female coworker. Her husband chimed in that it is very true. I said that it was a silly statement and walked away. Later she approached me and continued the conversation stating that she honestly believed that American women are closer to their male counterparts in strength and intelligence due to generations of independent women who work and do basic labor alongside men. I am curious if we are viewed this way generally or if it is an isolated or regional viewpoint? Commentary greatly appreciated and helpful insight applauded.
