But Lauren Olamina? Where is that from? Sorry I don't get the reference. LOL.
From "Parable of the Sower," by Octavia Butler, a personal favorite. A second for a girl would be Katniss. I love strong female characters. So Scout would do, too, I s'pose, and Galadriel. Maybe Xena for a middle name. ;) Funny I'm having a harder time thinking of stand-out boys' names which are unusual without being geeky. I certainly would not, for instance, want to burden a child of mine with a name like Frodo or Gandalf.
I looked up the name as you were posting. Thanks. Beautiful name, BTW. Xena is awesome, as well. I would also add Buffy to that, by way of tough girl names. Knew one as well once, too. LOL.
Original Message
I'm a Hawthorne fan, so IF I were to name my kid after a literary character, I guess I would name her (if it was a girl) Hester Prynne (Last Name).
Strong, tough, passionate name, as befits the namesake.
Alternate------Pearl Prynne. For the "wild child" in all of us. LOL.
For a boy-----Goodman Brown (Last Name). Just for the "unusualness" of it.
Alternates:
Montague Rhodes James Something Something.
OR
William Hope Hodgson Something Something.
LOVE weird fiction. LOL.
Or just Nathaniel Hawthorne plus my last name. Obvious.
What are YOU guys's choices?
Your turn now.
