not following attack in 17 days, fifteen hours? july 18 at sundown?
I am not certain the political climate is conducive to an attack or no, but the window of opportunity is now open for a NATO operation.
sounds good to me, doubt it's coming though unless Assad goes apeshit and starts firing off Scuds with chemwarheads at everyone in range
July 18 at sundown? It's the new moon, or at least within 24 hours of the new moon, definitely the beginning of the darkest nights in July. Now I wonder why that would be important..hmmm.....
I'm not so sure on that, Nato can attack whenever it wants all assets needed are in place, just the order needs to be given, night superiority is theirs, only complication would be the russians helping defend assad in which case they also have the same technology.
It is true that NATO is not limited, but they have a pattern of choosing the most beneficial times to their operational plans when they can. Due to the apparent mission and the parameters involved, I would expect cover of darkness to be crucial for both ground, air and combined efforts. As to long range naval operations, this will be of less value.
A great deal hinges on the talks in Geneva tomorrow morning. It is a predictable failure in the making and much is being made of humanitarian issues and the like.
The real target at issue are the chemical munitions that Syria possesses and the competing interests to secure them in a variety of ways.
