[quote:KickinIt:MV8yMzkxMDE5XzgwMzYzMDUxX0EwMkE1NkNG] [quote:InterMezzo:MV8yMzkxMDE5XzgwMzYwMDQyXzMyOEQ5OURB] *Flash visit: Mezzing In Action Mezzage* Hope everyone is doing well! :grouphug: And special thoughts and prayers for BigD and his wife and the family. I was at least relieved to read that things are looking up again. Get well soon!! :hf: Haven't been here much. There were fierce rumors that my absence had to do with the time the haircut took. Even though it took a few minutes to get rid of the Captain Caveman look and the barber gave me discount because he could sell my hair to a company that specializes in wigs for headbangers, it was all arranged in less than 15 minutes... Mostly concentrating on trying to find a job and picking up a study for transport planning to expand my options. I don't need a career anymore. I just want a job where I can fulfill my passion for people and what I am good at in analytics and numbers and creativity. Still not easy. The world had already changed since I last applied in the early 1900's and now even more with this whole virus situation and the economic disaster from it. I sometimes apply for jobs where there are 200 applicants. But I won't give up. Ever. Had an interview this week, went well. So let's see what that brings. #makeithappen. And the weather here was beautiful the past weeks. So I was outdoors a lot. Very refreshing and energetic. And now we have gone back to half the temps and rain. At the moment the bars and terraces opened up.. Orchestrated?? ;-) Sad to see dear friends that have been here for ages leave this community. I myself practiced a little social distancing from here as well, but I would never close my account. We make memories and built friendships together, in my opinion often for always. If you feel like it, as White Angel said, make sure you have email addresses or other means to contact those who you want to stay in touch with, so you can reach out when you notice they are gone. Even when you haven't seen them in a while on here, it's always good to check on them at times outside GLP. I contacted GfG about her leaving and she told me that it was one of the hardest decisions she had to make, but it was (and I am quoting her) the call of God, who told her that it was time to leave. I won't go into details here, but maybe there will come again that He will tell her to come back. She did tell me let you all know how much she loves all of you here in the EQ thread. Goofy will be missed. People are sometimes easy to judge or ridicule others for their stands in life and their strong beliefs. You don't always have to agree with each other and can have a different opinion, but she is and always will be a true asset to GLP and this world. :hf: Respecting people for who they are and what they believe in is not hard to do if you just try it. There is no difference in that between online and real life. Counting to ten when you see a post you don't agree with is sometimes harder, but not less doable. Often we don't realize the impact of our impulsive reaction. Keep in mind that it often not only hurts the one you are aiming at, but also yourself. No one wins. And with that Reverend Mezzo ending, I will close this way too long mezzage. Much love to all of you. You are all beautiful and I am blessed to call you my friends. :red_heart: *End of Mezzo's Mezzing in Action Mezzage*
Hey IM! Glad to hear you finally got a haircut! I bet that felt good. I will keep my fingers crossed regarding your interview. It's unfortunate the timing of this virus for you, that makes the jobs search much harder. I know you have a lot to offer, I hope that the right match comes along soon at a place that will appreciate all that you can bring to the table. I'm glad you spoke to Goofy, I hope she knows she is missed here! You said: "Respecting people for who they are and what they believe in is not hard to do if you just try it." Apparently that is extremely hard for the greater percentage of the people on this site. It honestly frightens me that there are so many judgemental people in this world who are completely incapable of seeing individuals. Instead, it's constant sweeping generalizations about groups, whether it's based on race, religion, politics, sexual orientation, etc. At the same time, if THEY are lumped into some sort of category, watch out. There is so much hypocrisy here and people are too blind and full of hate to even recognize it. And if someone tries to challenge that thinking, it turns into full on rage, name calling and threats. So many posters here are incapable of a conversation, they simply dictate, because THEY are right and that's that. Why start a thread if you can't handle a discussion? So you can find people as equally miserable? Ironically, the people shouting out "snowflake" at every whim are actually the biggest snowflakes of all. I will repeat myself like a broken record again, but this extreme thinking that allows for no grey area is at the root of many problems in this world right. More than ever, in my lifetime anyway, things are viewed as black and white, right or wrong, all or nothing. We live in a grey world, not a black and white one, and this thinking that so many have adopted only results in increasing frustration and anger, as we are seeing play out today. Anyway, enough ranting. Just know that you are not alone in how you are feeling. :hugs:
I accidentally deleted the OP of this thread during some glitch issues on GLP this morning (10/30/17).
I will be posting some useful links in the next post to make it easier for those posting so you don't have to scroll through a massive OP. :)
I had to delete the first two comments on this thread to do so, but wanted to keep them so I've put them below.
5* and I'm on board.. Simple.. I'm sorry about CH.. He will be missed greatly..
but, the continuation of EQ is an important thing because it's connected to so many things..

I also would like to mention that I know this thread has MANY pages and that it can be somewhat intimidating to join/chime in on a long standing thread as a new member/AC (I've experienced it when I first joined GLP), but we are a VERY welcoming group to those who newly join us. We are a small family of sorts who are all mostly interested in the same earth-related topics (quakes/solar/volcanoes/weather/etc.) and share info on each of those topics as well as 'off-topic' discussions. We genuinely care for one another here and even when we do not agree with each other, we ALWAYS respect each other.
I truly enjoy when new folks join us here. All that I ask is to show respect. :)
