I not sure if it's just by accident or by design, but a number of children like this have been brought to my attention of late so it has me wondering just what the heck is going on. It's just... well.. unnatural :D
No. It's not unnatural. I am a 39 yr old woman. As a child...I could draw, paint, dance, write fiction, create music, sing. Just as well, if not, better than most adults. I've won numerous art awards...literary awards (published in SUNY periodical at age 12, numerous award winning short stories)...my music has been used (commercials, online). I guess I was odd as a child, as my talents took sooooo much of my time. My parents didn't influence me...at all. I still do all of those things...as well as any other PAID artist. See...my brain is wired differently. I have so much creative talent and intelligence, I was studied. How could I write a symphony, just as complex as Mozart, yet, I didn't understand the concept of simple subtraction? How could I write a work of fiction as perfect as The Odyssey in a day...yet I didn't grasp rights and lefts. I had a lot of social mis-steps.It can be a lonely childhood...being stuck inside one's head full of creative ideas...it's a jail. Having talents are great...when others are bored. It hasn't helped me one damn bit in living a successful life. If I LOVED it...I was good at it.But...it's gotten me... NOWHERE. Leonardo Da Vinci was a tortured man. I see a lot of myself in this young girl. I'm quite sure that she can do a lot of things...better than most people. But, then what? I'm great at a lot of things that I HATE TO DO! Like, cooking, for example. Why must every meal I make for someone end in "you must give me the recipe" or "you must cook for us!" when all I was trying to do was feed some-damn-body.I just wanted to eat a damn hot-dog...but somehow, I made the most perfect hot dog on the planet and now the whole damn planet wants a hot dog. Everyone wants me to write them a song...everyone wants me to draw them a pic...everyone wants me to design their: homes cars tattoos Jeans Jewelry gardens weddings Not ONE person feels that I should need any kind of compensation for these efforts, however...that I should be thankful and SHARE my talents with the world. People will suck the life out of you if you're "talented" enough. They will steal your ideas, music, art, written works and claim them as theirs. I found a meme on FB a year ago with a quote...BY ME!!! It originated on this dear old site. This child definitely has a talent...it is in fact INTELLIGENCE...she can find the essence of what she needs to learn on her own accord. Her voice will be just one of her many attributes. I'm sure if she wanted to tap dance...she could pull it out of her butt if she watched it enough. She is a CHAMELEON...very rare, very underrated people. I hope that the world treats this one better.
Oh dear me. Forgive my muggle use of the word unnatural to describe this. I meant uncommon in a supernatural way. I am so very sorry that you have not been appreciated for your gifts. Are you still in NY State? Have you thought of moving elsewhere where no one knows you and just starting over as an artist? I'm sure you've already thought of that :/ Is there *anything* I can do to help? I mean it :) I might be overstepping my bounds, but did your parents, by any chance, use your talents for their own bragging rights? That can always lead to gifted children being ostracized by other kids and it probably laid the groundwork for your being used as a party trick rather than being taken seriously for the gifts you have. I'm serious. I would like to help, if I can.
As many of you all know, I'm a huge fan of Opera. I fell in love with Maria Callas' angelic voice when I was little. She was born in 1923 and passed away in 1977.
Here is Maria singing "Ava Maria". You don't have to listen to the whole thing, but you need to hear a bit of it for a comparison.

Now. Listen to this little girl sing "O Mio Babbino Caro". Amira Willighagen is from Nijmegen, The Netherlands and is nine years old.

Uitstekend! I'm just...
The child's demeanor is more mature and humble than most adults I know. I don't know where her knowledge of singing comes from, but she didn't get it from a professional who has trained their voice for years and years. Everything about this child is magical. Old soul? Walk in? I mean. What the heck? How does a voice like that come out of a child that small? She has skill that takes most opera singers years to master.
I can post the full version of the little girl's performance w/English subtitles if anyone is interested. Wow.
