Montana- The great frontier, and wood choppin. Streams with water. 2. Arkansas- Close to the diamond mine and lakes, because it is cheap to live, and state parks close by. Not sure I could leave Texas.
This is my post. Signed out accidentally, anyone been to Arkansas or Montana?
I've been to both. The people in Arkansas are absolute back water hicks. I'm not the most sophisticated guy, but the Clampets from the Hillbilly's TV show comes to mind. That is the truth. Montana is full of competent strong willed proud people. They are not as social as most places, but they are very kind and thoughtful. They are just as happy to be alone as in a group of friends - they are not needy people at all. Montana is a more relaxed setting where the people know who they are and don't pretend to be something they are not. A state full of real people.
Being a whitewater kayaker from N. Louisiana, I spend a lot of time in Arkansas. Arkansas has the best whitewater between the Smokies an Rockies, but it all rain dependent and the best creeks are run at flash flood stage with an occasional tree running the creek with you. I've finally paid off all of my college debt, and am looking to start over somewhere. I'm in my early 30s, single, and have no children; basically, I have no responsibilities outside of paying rent wherever I go, and feeding myself.
So, where is a good place to go live a laid back, simple life? I have no desire to live lavishly or in excess. I also have no desire to live in a city (Been there, done that).
I've lived in NY my entire life and haven't really traveled much, so I really have no idea where would be a good place to try. Anyone got some good ideas? Thanks in advance.
