I've vacillated between the traditional and alternative perspectives and now am in the alternative camp. bibleprophecy.net/secret/lgusa-4.htm excerpt: In Revelation 13 the lion, leopard and bear are combined in one conglomerate beast whereas in Daniel 7 the three beasts are presented separately. This is one evidence among others to show that these visions are meant to apply now, and not thousands of years ago. Almost all Bible commentaries place the fulfillment of Daniel 7 in the distant past. The lion is Babylon, the bear Medo-Persia, the leopard Greece, the unnamed beast Rome. And these explanations would be fine if there were not reasons from the text of the Bible itself indicating that the visions should apply now. The first reason comes from a comparison of the visions of Daniel 7 and Revelation 13. Because of the obvious parallel of these visions (see the chart on page 82) it makes sense to interpret them in tandem. In Daniel 7 the animals are presented individually. In such a presentation it is natural to conclude, as commentators always have, that the animals refer to successive empires. Medo-Persia followed Babylon, just as the bear followed the lion. But when we see the lion, bear and leopard rolled into one beast in Revelation 13, the symbolism is telling us that all three of the powers represented here are existing at the same time. The explanation we presented in chapter two takes that into account. Since we gave evidence in that chapter to interpret the unnamed beast of Revelation 13 as the United States, then if the visions of Daniel 7 and Revelation 13 are parallel, then we would expect that the unnamed beast in Daniel 7 is also the United States. Before pursuing that, let us look at a few more evidences from the text indicating that this prophecy of Daniel 7 should be patient of another interpretation beyond the traditional interpretation which places it in the past. In verse 17 of Daniel 7 the interpreting angel, probably Gabriel, tells Daniel (and now the rest of us who are also listening) that these four beasts are four kingdoms which "will arise from the earth." We are being told about beasts which arise in the future. But at the very time the angel was telling Daniel these things, Babylon was about to fall. It was not about to "arise" in the future. This is very crucial Biblical evidence begging for an alternative explanation for this chapter than the traditional outlay of Babylon, Medo-Persia, Greece and Rome. Another textual evidence to look beyond the traditional explanation of this chapter comes from verse 7. We read there: After this I saw in the night visions, and behold a fourth beast…and it was diverse from all the beasts that were before it… (Dan 7:7) At face value, the expression "the beasts that were before it" seems to mean the beasts that came before it in time. That is, first the lion came and went, then the bear came and went, then the leopard came and went and now the fourth beast is appearing. But the Hebrew word qodam, translated "before," more perfectly means "in the presence of." Thus, what Daniel is telling us is that all these animals were before him at the same time. Lion, bear, leopard, and fourth beast are all standing together at the same time. Thus, as in Revelation 13, we can conclude that these animals represent nations existing at the same time. The language of the prophecy fits better with a future, simultaneous application of the symbols than the traditional sequential, chronological one. Another indication that this prophecy refers to the end of time, and not to thousands of years ago, come in verses 21 and 22:....... The "horn" referred to above comes from the fourth beast, and is seen "making war" with God’s people ("the saints") right until the final judgment at which time "the saints possessed the kingdom," a reference to the Age to Come. But if the fourth beast represents Rome, this prophecy is false, because Rome is not still persecuting Christians. .... The beast power would be persecuting the people of God until the Lord executes judgment at the end of time, as described in this chapter: Thrones were set up while I was watching, and the Eternal God took his place. His clothing and his hair were white as snow. His throne was a blazing fire with fiery wheels, and flames were dashing out from all around him. Countless thousands were standing there to serve him. The time of judgment began, and the books were opened. I watched closely to see what would happen to this smaller horn because of the arrogant things it was saying. Then before my very eyes, the fourth beast was killed and its body destroyed by fire. The other three beasts had their authority taken from them…(Dan 7:9-12)
Daniel 8 Once again, I have to admit I was not in the futuristic camp until I watched this person's video. It gave me a fresh perspective on Daniel 8. After I re-read Daniel 8 and re-watched the video - it all made sense (not that I agree with everything in the video. The goat (entity going to war with Iran), came from the west portion of the whole earth never touching the ground. If you think about it - warfare in biblical times meant riding in a Chariot or on a horse and had to touch the earth. Now, we have drones, jets, nuclear weapons, missles you name it to fight a battle with. Also, Gabriel tells us it is not until the appointed time - the end of days, and Iran will become a great nation. How does Iran achieve the status of greatness? By obtaining nukes. We know Iran is almost a nuclear nation and most likely will become one. At that time - the west will go to war with Iran. Edward Everett also informs us - Alexander was not the first king. I checked on this - and it is true. So I have switched for now to chapter 8 being in the future
Daniel 8 cont. The ram is Iran - and becomes great ( a nuclear power ?): The goat's lead (USA or ?????) country is destroyed and 4 other countries rise up. The antichrist comes out of one of these 4 countries: 4 I saw the ram pushing westward, and northward, and southward; so that no beasts might stand before him, neither was there any that could deliver out of his hand; but he did according to his will, and became great. 5 And as I was considering, behold, an he goat came from the west on the face of the whole earth, and touched not the ground: and the goat had a notable horn between his eyes. ------ Iran is destroyed by the goat. The goat could be a coalition led by the USA, Nato or EU: 7 And I saw him come close unto the ram, and he was moved with choler against him, and smote the ram, and brake his two horns: and there was no power in the ram to stand before him, but he cast him down to the ground, and stamped upon him: and there was none that could deliver the ram out of his hand. 8 Therefore the he goat waxed very great: and when he was strong, the great horn was broken; and for it came up four notable ones toward the four winds of heaven. 9 And out of one of them came forth a little horn, which waxed exceeding great, toward the south, and toward the east, and toward the pleasant land. ---------- If you recall - Daniel 7 tells us this little horn (antichrist) arrives on the beast after the 10 kings are established.
Tying the chapters 7 and 8 together - we are given 2 ways the antichrist arrives on the scene. Chapter 7 - it's clear he rules the very last kingdom on this earth. Chapter 8 - he only succeeds in ascending to leader ship after the goats horn is broken into 4 separate entities. From there both chapters add some detail about the character of this evil person: ------------ Daniel 7:7 After this I saw in the night visions, and behold a fourth beast, dreadful and terrible, and strong exceedingly; and it had great iron teeth: it devoured and brake in pieces, and stamped the residue with the feet of it: and it was diverse from all the beasts that were before it; and it had ten horns. 23 ..... The fourth beast shall be the fourth kingdom upon earth, which shall be diverse from all kingdoms, and shall devour the whole earth, and shall tread it down, and break it in pieces. 24 And the ten horns out of this kingdom are ten kings that shall arise: and another shall rise after them; and he shall be diverse from the first, and he shall subdue three kings. 25 And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time. ------------ Daniel 8:9 And out of one of them came forth a little horn, which waxed exceeding great, toward the south, and toward the east, and toward the pleasant land. 10 And it waxed great, even to the host of heaven; and it cast down some of the host and of the stars to the ground, and stamped upon them. 11 Yea, he magnified himself even to the prince of the host, and by him the daily sacrifice was taken away, and the place of the sanctuary was cast down. 12 And an host was given him against the daily sacrifice by reason of transgression, and it cast down the truth to the ground; and it practised, and prospered. 9 And out of one of them came forth a little horn, which waxed exceeding great, toward the south, and toward the east, and toward the pleasant land. 24....his power shall be mighty, but not by his own power: and he shall destroy wonderfully, and shall prosper, and practise, and shall destroy the mighty and the holy people. 25 ...and he shall magnify himself in his heart, and by peace shall destroy many
To summarize: Fourth beast shall: shall devour the whole earth, and shall tread it down, and break it in pieces.(Revelation infers the antichrist will head up this effort). If we extract the antichrists qualities we have in chapter 7 and 8 so far: shall subdue three kings shall speak great words against God shall wear out the saints of the Lord change times and laws magnify himself above God take daily sacrifice away cast down the truth to the ground; and it practised, and prospered by peace shall destroy many There are other chapters where we learn of the antichrists characteristics, but the bulk of them come from 7 & 8.
Daniel 8 continued: Gabriel, an angel God sent to Daniel to interpret the vision tells Daniel the vision is for the end of time and gives him a breakdown of the vision. Here is where we get more information on the antichrist: 23 And in the latter time of their kingdom, when the transgressors are come to the full, a king of fierce countenance, and understanding dark sentences, shall stand up. 24 And his power shall be mighty, but not by his own power: and he shall destroy wonderfully, and shall prosper, and practise, and shall destroy the mighty and the holy people. Who are the mighty? We know who the holy people are i.e. Israel
Quote from Passage above: (He) shall destroy the mighty. Compare James 5 to woman on beast aka mystery babylon (Rev 17 & 18). Are they one and the same, whose destruction causes a worldwide economic collapse: Rev 18:3 For all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth are waxed rich through the abundance of her delicacies. 23....for thy merchants were the great men of the earth; for by thy sorceries(cdo's, derivatives) were all nations deceived. Rev 17:6 And I saw the woman drunken with the blood of the saints, and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus: and when I saw her, I wondered with great admiration. The passages here can readily be applied to bankers today: James 5 King James Version (KJV) 5 Go to now, ye rich men, weep and howl for your miseries that shall come upon you. 2 Your riches are corrupted, and your garments are motheaten. 3 Your gold and silver is cankered; and the rust of them shall be a witness against you, and shall eat your flesh as it were fire. Ye have heaped treasure together for the last days. 4 Behold, the hire of the labourers who have reaped down your fields, which is of you kept back by fraud, crieth: and the cries of them which have reaped are entered into the ears of the Lord of sabaoth. 5 Ye have lived in pleasure on the earth, and been wanton; ye have nourished your hearts, as in a day of slaughter. 6 Ye have condemned and killed the just; and he doth not resist you. ------------ James 5 is pretty much saying what Revelation does about the wob The mighty refers great men of the earth in James 5 and Rev 18.
Notice what it says - you have heaped treasure together for the last days Clearly, this is the end times. It is the antichrist who destroys the woman on the beast: in one hour destruction comes upon you - and a collapse of the entire financial system ensues: Next verse sounds like 4th seal of Rev 6 - death and famine. Perhaps her demise kicks of the 4th seal. With a collapse of the entire world's economys - famine and disease and death would follow: Rev 18:8 Therefore shall her plagues come in one day, death, and mourning, and famine; and she shall be utterly burned with fire: for strong is the Lord God who judgeth her. 9 And the kings of the earth, who have committed fornication and lived deliciously with her, shall bewail her, and lament for her, when they shall see the smoke of her burning, 10 Standing afar off for the fear of her torment, saying, Alas, alas that great city Babylon, that mighty city! for in one hour is thy judgment come. 11 And the merchants of the earth shall weep and mourn over her; for no man buyeth their merchandise any more: Worldwide economic collapse commences: Rev 18:11.....no man buyeth their merchandise any more: 12 The merchandise of gold, and silver, and precious stones, and of pearls, and fine linen, and purple, and silk, and scarlet, and all thyine wood, and all manner vessels of ivory, and all manner vessels of most precious wood, and of brass, and iron, and marble, 13 And cinnamon, and odours, and ointments, and frankincense, and wine, and oil, and fine flour, and wheat, and beasts, and sheep, and horses, and chariots, and slaves, and souls of men. 14 And the fruits that thy soul lusted after are departed from thee, and all things which were dainty and goodly are departed from thee, and thou shalt find them no more at all. 15 The merchants of these things, which were made rich by her, shall stand afar off for the fear of her torment, weeping and wailing I covered where the antichrist destroys the woman on the beast starting here in this thread: http://www.godlikeproductions.com/forum1/message2657702/pg14
Daniel 8 continued: We'll add a few more characteristics to the AC. fierce countenance, and understands dark sentences (note: will have a working knowledge of the occult). Shall be great, but not by his own power. hmmmm guess who's power controls him? Eviland corruption shall prosper under his administration. Lastly, he will be narcissist. Daniel 8:16 And I heard a man's voice between the banks of Ulai, which called, and said, Gabriel, make this man to understand the vision. 17 So he came near where I stood: and when he came, I was afraid, and fell upon my face: but he said unto me, Understand, O son of man: for at the time of the end shall be the vision....... 23 And in the latter time of their kingdom, when the transgressors are come to the full, a king of fierce countenance, and understanding dark sentences, shall stand up. 24 And his power shall be mighty, but not by his own power: and he shall destroy wonderfully, and shall prosper, and practise, and shall destroy the mighty and the holy people. 25 And through his policy also he shall cause craft to prosper in his hand; and he shall magnify himself in his heart, and by peace shall destroy many: he shall also stand up against the Prince of princes; but he shall be broken without hand.
Daniel 9 In this chapter Daniel realizes that the 70 year prophecy of Jeremiah saying the jews will be allowed to return to Jerusalem is near if they seek out the Lord. Daniel knows this hasn't taken place and prays to the Lord for the forgiven of the Israelis sins. God answers his prayers with a vision - called the 70 weeks of Daniel. This vision is one of the reasons Jesus said to the pharisees if you knew the scriptures you would know who I am. It tells us precisely to the year Jesus was crucified - "cut off". Hence - the time frame the messiah would appear. Daniel once again is blessed to have a visitation by the angel Gabriel to interpret his vision. But notice what Gabriel's first words are: Daniel 9:3 At the beginning of thy supplications the commandment came forth, and I am come to shew thee; for thou art greatly beloved: therefore understand the matter, and consider the vision. What Gabriel is telling Daniel is God heard his prayers from the very start, and God Loves Daniel very much. We also know God loves us, his children very much, and hears our prayers.
Chapter 9 cont. 9:24 Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy. The transgressors are the Israelis. Wikipedia: Prophecy of the Seventy Weeks: The vision in first year of Darius the son of Ahasuerus (9:1) concerning seventy weeks, or seventy "sevens", apportioned for the history of the Israelites and of Jerusalem (9:24) This consists of a meditation on the prediction in Jeremiah that the desolation of Jerusalem would last seventy years, a lengthy prayer by Daniel in which he pleads for God to restore Jerusalem and its temple, and an angelic explanation which focuses on a longer time period – "seventy sevens" – and a future restoration and destruction of city and temple by a coming ruler.
Actually the 70 weeks mean 70 years according to bible expositors. Chuck Missler puts it this way: "The idiom of a "week" of years was common in Israel as a "sabbath for the land," in which the land was to lie fallow every seventh year.2 It was their failure to obey these laws that led to God sending them into captivity under the Babylonians.3 Note that the focus of this passage is upon "thy people and upon thy holy city," that is, upon Israel and Jerusalem. (It is not directed to the Church.) The scope of this prophecy includes a broad list of things which clearly have yet to be completed."
70th week in great detail is found here: www.nowtheendbegins.com/pages/rapture/daniels-70th-week-explained.htm "Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people In chapter nine Daniel had a Vision of "Seventy Weeks" that were determined on his "People" (the Jews) and the Holy City (Jerusalem) to finish "their transgressions, " and make an "end of their sins, " and bring in "everlasting righteousness." This Vision of the "Seventy Weeks" is the most important revelation in many respects made in the Scriptures. It set the date of the First Coming of Christ, and gives the length of the reign of Antichrist. The date of the "Vision" is important. The first verse of the chapter locates it in the "First Year" of Darius the Median, or the same year as the "Fall of Babylon, " B.C. 538. Daniel had been studying the Prophecy of Jeremiah, and learned from it that the 70 years of "Captivity" of his people were drawing to a close, for the "Captivity" began in B.C. 606, and 68 years had elapsed since then. Jer. 25:11.
I won't post the entire 70 weeks commentary - only the last portion concerning Jesus and end times: While there was no break between the "Seven Weeks" and the "Threescore and Two Weeks, " there is a break between the "Sixty-ninth" and "Seventieth Week, " in which several things were to happen. First we read that "Messiah Was to Be Cut Off, But Not for Himself." This refers to Christ's rejection and crucifixion. He died for others. Then we read that the people of the "Prince That Shall Come' shall destroy the City and the Sanctuary. Note that it does not say that the "Prince" will destroy the City and Sanctuary, but the People of the Prince. The people who destroyed the City of Jerusalem and the Temple in A. D. 70 were the Romans, therefore the "Prince (Antichrist) must be a Roman Citizen. This does not mean that he cannot be a Syrian Jew, for Syria will then be a part of the revived Roman Empire, and Saul of Tarsus was a Roman citizen as well as Jew. We are then told that the desolation of the land of Palestine shall continue until the "End of the War" (probably Armageddon). As this "desolation" still continues we see that the "GAP" between the "Sixty ninth" and "Seventieth Week" takes in the whole of this PRESENT DISPENSATION. The next verse (vs. 27) introduces the "Seventieth Week." "And He (the "Prince"-Antichrist) shall confirm the Covenant with many for ONE WEEK (the Seventieth Week); and in the MIDST (middle) of the Week He (the Antichrist), shall cause the sacrifice and oblation to cease, " etc. For a description of the "Seventieth Week" see the chapter on 'The Tribulation.' " source - Clarence Larkin www.nowtheendbegins.com/pages/rapture/daniels-70th-week-explained.htm
70th week continues until the end of time - the part that has yet to be fulfilled. This is the the introduction of the 7 year covenant with the antichrist and the breaking of it 3 1/2 years later as stated above: Daniel 9 26 And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined. 27 And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.
Summing up who antichrist is we have: This "person" controls the entire earth!! who has done this in the past? No one has ever controlled the entire earth. This person is to be worshiped world wide by Everyone or be killed. This person doesn't set up an idol (paul knows what an idol is and says "man" not idol) He sets himself up to be supreme God. He is cruel, fierce and knows not the god's of his fathers nor have the desire of woman. No one can make war with him - he's too powerful. He comes up as the eleventh horn - after the 10 horns(kings) in some kingdom, and subdues 3 of them. He has the 10 kings take out the woman on the beast (mystery babylon) Rev. 17:16-18 His origins are of the revived roman empire of end times. Jesus takes him out at armageddon. The antichrists kingdom is the last earthly kingdom before Jesus returns. According to Mathew 24, Daniel and Revelation he rules during the great tribulation. After "he" stands in the temple he sends an army after the fleeing Jews who are protected by God for 3 1/2 years in the mountains. Failing that, he goes after christians (5th seal Revelation). Jesus says let no man deceive you in Mathew 24 and Revelation 6. Paul starts out talking about this "man" saying let no man deceive you. Paul says he will sit in the temple showing himself to be God. Paul is an x-pharisee - he most certainly knows what a temple is. Daniel tells us this person will obtain power by flattery and deceit. So Jesus, Daniel, Paul agree it is a person who uses deception to gain power. Daniel and Jesus both tell us it is an abomination of desolation, then Daniel spends some time filling in the description of this abomination and one can only conclude he's not on the scene yet..
Paul say tells us - he will not come until there is a great apostasy(falling away) of the church, and we will recognize who he is when he defiles the temple and declares he is God. 2 Thessalonians 2 (KJV) 3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; 4 Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God. 5 Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things?
Paul continues - note at the end - God sends them a delusion to believe a lie: 9 Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, 10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. 11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie
Before I continue I wanted to note that Daniel 10, 11, 12 are all one vision and only applies to the Jewish people. Of course the latter days (end times) will affect us all. Daniel 10:14 Now I am come to make thee understand what shall befall thy people in the latter days: for yet the vision is for many days.
10:1-12 It has been 70 years since Daniel was taken captive. He is now 87 years old. This is Daniel’s last vision. It is recorded in chapters 10-12. Chapter 10 is the introduction; it offers a fascinating look at the supernatural intervention that takes place behind the scenes of history. Daniel tells the dream will come true, but not for a very long time. Daniel 10 1 In the third year of Cyrus king of Persia a thing was revealed unto Daniel, whose name was called Belteshazzar; and the thing was true, but the time appointed was long: and he understood the thing, and had understanding of the vision. 2 In those days I Daniel was mourning three full weeks. 3 I ate no pleasant bread, neither came flesh nor wine in my mouth, neither did I anoint myself at all, till three whole weeks were fulfilled.
Daniel describes his vision (many believe Jesus is the person who is talking): 5 Then I lifted up mine eyes, and looked, and behold a certain man clothed in linen, whose loins were girded with fine gold of Uphaz: 6 His body also was like the beryl, and his face as the appearance of lightning, and his eyes as lamps of fire, and his arms and his feet like in colour to polished brass, and the voice of his words like the voice of a multitude. 7 And I Daniel alone saw the vision: for the men that were with me saw not the vision; but a great quaking fell upon them, so that they fled to hide themselves. 8 Therefore I was left alone, and saw this great vision, and there remained no strength in me: for my comeliness was turned in me into corruption, and I retained no strength. 9 Yet heard I the voice of his words: and when I heard the voice of his words, then was I in a deep sleep on my face, and my face toward the ground. 10 And, behold, an hand touched me, which set me upon my knees and upon the palms of my hands. 1 1And he said unto me, O Daniel, a man greatly beloved, understand the words that I speak unto thee, and stand upright: for unto thee am I now sent. And when he had spoken this word unto me, I stood trembling. 12 Then said he unto me, Fear not, Daniel: for from the first day that thou didst set thine heart to understand, and to chasten thyself before thy God, thy words were heard, and I am come for thy words. 13 But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me one and twenty days: but, lo, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me; and I remained there with the kings of Persia. 14 Now I am come to make thee understand what shall befall thy people in the latter days: for yet the vision is for many days. 15 And when he had spoken such words unto me, I set my face toward the ground, and I became dumb. 16 And, behold, one like the similitude of the sons of men touched my lips: then I opened my mouth, and spake, and said unto him that stood before me, O my lord, by the vision my sorrows are turned upon me, and I have retained no strength. 17 For how can the servant of this my lord talk with this my lord? for as for me, straightway there remained no strength in me, neither is there breath left in me. 18 Then there came again and touched me one like the appearance of a man, and he strengthened me,
Here is a pretty good commentary explaining the verses above: – In his advanced years, Daniel was still in the company of other men. They were not allowed to see the vision, but the thing they did experience was scary enough. They quickly exited the scene and left Daniel alone. – Daniel lost any vitality that he had. The Message reads: "I went weak in the knees, the blood drained from my face." - At this point in the story, there is little by way of encouragement to offer his Jewish brethren, some of whom had already returned to Jerusalem. Others would be following. – Getting a message from a heavenly being was not trivial. Some people today report messages from the Lord that arrive with less fanfare than the TV news. Those proported messages are not like this model. ncbible.org/resources/danielcomm10.html
Daniel 10 I'm skipping through most of this because we are dealing with the antichrist. Since Daniel 10 sets the entire vision I'll post a few verses - notice once again it is for the latter days (end times): 12 Then said he unto me, Fear not, Daniel: for from the first day that thou didst set thine heart to understand, and to chasten thyself before thy God, thy words were heard, and I am come for thy words. --------------------- – Daniel DID understand why the messenger came. - This angel, whom we take to be Gabriel, had to go fight with the wicked angel-prince of Persia and as soon as that struggle was won, another wicked angel-prince would appear on behalf of Greece. 21) But I will tell thee that which is inscribed in the writing of truth: and there is none that holdeth with me against these, but Michael your prince. – The Book of the Future was about to be opened and the future angelic wars revealed. - Gabriel had only one ally and that was Michael, the godly angel-prince of Israel.
If you want to read a traditional view Daniel chapter 11 you can find one here: ncbible.org/resources/Danielcomm11.html However, I am going to focus on an alternative view that the antichist in chapter 11 is not antiochus epiphanes. To do that I will skip chapter 11 for the time being and concentrate on chapter 12. I'll start with the premise this is taking place in end times or "our time".
Great Article here on Daniel 12. Not sure if we agree on Chapter 11, but I'm posting this because it is my thoughts exactly. After all, why reinvent the wheel, when it's already been done :) Daniel 12:1-13 God has definite future plans for the nation of Israel and the chastening that they will endure is to "try them, purge them and make them white" meaning pure. (Daniel 11:35) This last chapter of the Book of Daniel addresses Israel during the period of testing and purifying in the seven years before the coming of the Messiah. God is giving Israel the sure hope that in the end they would be saved and God's promises to them fulfilled. As Chapter 11 explains for a period their future would be dark because they refused to obey and put their trust in the Lord and accept the Messiah. Satan's counterfeit, the Antichrist, will deceive them and thus bring on them a terrible time of unprecedented persecution. God, however assures Daniel that in the end they would be restored and have peace in the kingdom set up by the Messiah. The Lord explains to Daniel that "at that time," clearly meaning the events of Daniel 11:35-45, Israel's protector angel Michael, shall "stand up." This is God's appointed time to allow Michael, "the great prince which standeth for thy people, to begin to aggressively protect and defend Israel against the Devil. During the events of the preceding verses, the Antichrist will cause the greatest persecution that Israel has ever endured which includes 2000 years of oppression and the Holocaust of WWII under the Nazis. Jeremiah 30:7 refers to this terrible times as "Jacob's trouble." "Alas! for that day is great, so that none is like it: it is even the time of Jacob's trouble; but he shall be saved out of it" ( Jer. 30:7). The events recorded in Chapter 12 begin after the Antichrist desecrates the Temple and seeks destroy Israel and wipe them from the face of the earth. Jesus spoke of this period in Matthew 24:21-22 saying "For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be. And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened." This parallels the statement of Daniel 12:1, "there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation." Zechariah foretold this time warning that two thirds of the Jews would be killed, "And it shall come to pass, that in all the land, saith the LORD, two parts therein shall be cut off and die; but the third shall be left therein. And I will bring the third part through the fire, and will refine them as silver is refined, and will try them as gold is tried: they shall call on my name, and I will hear them: I will say, It is my people: and they shall say, The LORD is my God" (Zechariah 13:8-9 ). God will not allow His chosen people to be destroyed and He will keep His promises to them. Therefore, God sends Michael to protect Israel during this time when they are threaten with annihilation to preserve them. Michael preserves one third of the ruminant of the Jews, who will survive the Great Tribulation and go into the Millennium kingdom and repopulate the earth. Daniel 12:1 explains, "and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book." Revelation 12:6 also explains that Israel would be protected for 1260 days. (Also see Rev. 12:14, 13:5f) Note that this passage clearly teaches that only those who names are found written in the book are saved. The Jews are not assured of salvation based solely on their nationality, but like all men, their salvation is dependent on their belief and receiving Jesus as the Savior and Christ. It seems tragic that only one third of Israel is saved, but that means that for the first time in history millions of Jews will accept that Jesus is the Messiah and will in repentance turn to Him for their salvation. The Jewish Virtual Library estimates the world population to be 14,596,000 Jews. If the population remains the same when the Tribulation begins, that means an estimated five millions Jews would be saved. 1 These Jews living in the seven year Tribulation, along with probably millions of Gentiles, will understand the prophecies about the end time and will reject the Antichrist and refuse the "mark of the Beast." (See Rev. 13:17, 14:11, 16:2, 19:20, 20:4) Most of the world, however, will be deceived and under pressure receive the mark and worship the Antichrist and thus be condemned for all eternity.
So what we have in Daniel 12 is a series of conversations between the angels and Jesus and Daniel and Jesus. I mentioned I wanted to start at the end and work forward. The reason being is, first the angel tells Daniel what is to happen and as history unfolded and the prophesies proved to be accurate, interpreted them. Here's what the angel tells Daniel will happen in the last 3 1/2 years: Daniel 12:11 And from the time that the daily sacrifice shall be taken away, and the abomination that maketh desolate set up, there shall be a thousand two hundred and ninety days. 13 But go thou thy way till the end be: for thou shalt rest, and stand in thy lot at the end of the days. Here we see Daniel will rest until he is resurrected in some form at the very end of time. Another reason I started from the end instead of the beginning is the timeline that is given to Daniel until the end of time. This is important because he starts from the time the holy sanctuary is defiled. Most expositors don't include this in the end time scenario. But since God does through his interpreter the angel, so am I. Most say Antiochus did this, but I'm sticking with what God says in this particular instance. I know that Antiochus did defile the holy sanctuary, but not at the end of time - which is where I believe we are today. Chapter 12 of Daniel tells us that the holy people have their own guardian angel watching over them. Many jews are taught they are all going to heaven, however, Chapter 12 seems to contradict this. 12 And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book. This is pretty repetitious of the commentary I posted - but wanted to include the verses.
Two very important points to understand in Daniel 12 is, from the time the antichrist takes away the daily sacrifice - there will only be 3 1/2 years left until the end of the world as we know it. The other is - after the antichrist does this the great tribulation begins - Mathew 24. Where do we learn about this daily sacrifice being taken away? Chapter 11.
Here is the verse in daniel 11 Jesus is referring to: Daniel 11:31 And arms shall stand on his part, and they shall pollute the sanctuary of strength, and shall take away the daily sacrifice, and they shall place the abomination that maketh desolate. --------------------- He'll win support of the people using flattery - but there will be those who resist and will die for their resistance. 32 And such as do wickedly against the covenant shall he corrupt by flatteries: but the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits. 33 And they that understand among the people shall instruct many: yet they shall fall by the sword, and by flame, by captivity, and by spoil, many days. 34 Now when they shall fall, they shall be holpen with a little help: but many shall cleave to them with flatteries. 35 And some of them of understanding shall fall, to try them, and to purge, and to make them white, even to the time of the end: because it is yet for a time appoint
We find a different description in Revelation of the Beast or antichrist as I have been calling him. When we meet him here he has already achieved great power and authority. He is a composite of many animals we have already been familiarized with in Daniel 7(lion, bear, leopard), instead of separate beasts. This beast of Revelation is like unto a leopard, with feet of a bear and mouth of a lion. As I mentioned before there are no eagles wings in Revelation, like there is in Daniel 7 - so no USA. Revelation 13 1 And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy. 2 And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as the feet of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority.
Analyzing Daniel 7 and Revelation 13. In Daniel 7 we have the fourth beast - devouring the earth before the antichrist (little horn) appears. So the beast is already in control of the world. In Revelation 13 - the beast with 10 kings appears - without the 11th horn i.e. the antichrist. It takes the beast to receive a mortal wound before the antichrist even appears. I've speculated that the demise of the Mystery babylon (worldwide economic collapse), could cause a mortal wound to the beast. After the beast dies so to speak - albeit for a short time, the little horn makes an entrance. (Rev 13:5). Rev 13:5 And there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies; and power was given unto him to continue forty and two months (3 1/2 years). This is our little horn in Daniel 7? We would have a revived beast and a little horn (antichrist). And I would like to address where USA might show up in this chapter of Revelation next.
Perhaps the USA is not part of the first beast - because it represents the 2nd beast? Rev 13:11 And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon. 12 And he exerciseth all the power of the first beast before him, and causeth the earth and them which dwell therein to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed. The second beast is better known as the false prophet. I don't want to dwell on the false prophet for long - because I want to focus on the antichrist, so I'll give a quick description. Jesus in the bible is the lamb who takes away the sins of the world. This false prophet is a lamb that speaks with satan's mouth. Therefore it is an apostate christian nation. I can only ask - what has happened to the USA lately? We are clearly turning away from God and Jesus in every arena be it Govt, schools, even churches are falling away. Which is why I'm open to the USA being the false prophet at this time.
The entire world will worship this beast Rev 13:8 And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world. ------------ At the time Revelation was written the ten kings did not exist. However, when they do - they will surrender their power to the antichrist. Rev 17:12 And the ten horns which thou sawest are ten kings, which have received no kingdom as yet; but receive power as kings one hour with the beast. 13 These have one mind, and shall give their power and strength unto the beast.
Of course, one can't have a commentary about the antichrist without mentioning the Mark of the Beast: Rev 13:16 And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: 17 And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name. 18 Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six. What must be stressed here is once someone takes the mark they are lost forever; meaning they will spend eternity in hell.
Original Message
In Mathew 24 Jesus' disciples ask when will the world end?
Jesus answered and said - When you SEE ALL these things - this is the generation that will see all prophecy fulfilled (Math 24:33).
He literally means seeing, i.e. through webcams, videos, computers etc.
What are ALL the things we shall SEE?
Earthquakes, disease and wars in many places around the world. (Math 24:7)
Only in this generation has this been possible - at these websites:
ds.iris.edu/seismon/;
outbreaks.globalincidentmap.com/
Ancients didn't have the ability to SEE or know of earthquakes and disease on the other side of the world i.e. Alaska etc - nor would they care?
We should care however, because Jesus tells us these things will start out slowly like birth pangs and accelerate to apocalyptic levels. When this happens (and they are accelerating), we'll have a sign the end is near.
Next - When we SEE "the evil one" in the temple from a field or rooftop - this is the start of Great Tribulation.
Why would Jesus use the examples field or rooftop?
How would you SEE "satan's man" standing in the holy place from a field?
Only way I know is with a mobile device i.e. smartphone. Therefore this prophecy couldn't happen until we had mobile devices.
This "evil person" will be so arrogant, he'll have his conquest of Jerusalem streamed live to the internet - for all to see and hear his declaration that he is greater than the God of the universe. (2 Thes 2).
Keep in mind only a priest can enter the "holy place" - so no worshipers will be in there.
Additionally, he gives a dire warning for those in Judeae/Jerusalem flee to mountains. where God has prepared a place of safety for them. (Math 24:15-18, 21) .
Every example he uses is very carefully chosen, and conveys something important, and relevant to the entire world.
He tells us we will NOT be caught unaware - that these things will happen all together; not one here or there - ALL.
Here are some more prophecies that require internet:
The gospel will be preached unto all the nations of the earth and then "the end". (Math 24:14)
All will be required to take a mark of the beast to buy or sell. (Rev 13:16). With so many people in the world today, we need computers to keep track of everyone - and THEY are doing this already.
All will SEE his (antichrist) image move and speak, and be required to worship this image that is alive and can move and speak. (Rev 13:15)
Hmmmm - TV, youtube, computer, mobile device.
All will SEE the antichrist kill 2 witnesses in Jerusalem. After 3 days God will have them rise on their feet, and ascend into heaven in front of the whole world.
Ezekiel 39:21 - ALL will SEE God punish the nations that attack Israel in the gog magog war (coming soon).
All this will be accomplished in one generation.
ALL these things must be happening simultaneously also:
evil abounding - love grows cold: porn number one industry on internet. No shortage examples evilness on internet today.
many offended - political correctness to point can't say something without being killed, fired or going to jail.
christians beheaded - on youtube and other places nonetheless.
Jesus will be hated - we know satan is trying to rid the world of anything having to do with Jesus.
many false prophets - oh yeah
many claim to be christ - yep - but the "real fake" is yet to come.
I'll talk about Israel separately - because it offends many :)
