I moved way north in 1985. Now I have chickens. Lady down at the end of the road has peacocks. Another neighbor raises roosters, he has over 100 of them. It's like a symphony around here some days. If I ever moved back to the city, I would certainly miss the rural sounds. (not going to happen). Yes, in my experience, chickens lay more when they are happy and not stressed.
Nice, I moved north from there back in 04 or so. Fun stuff back there, hearing suddenly the gigantic roar of rockets from wherever the fuck over the hill. suddenly there's a space shuttle soemwhere over the hill. I love that area, god bless the 118 freeway.
Those rocket engine tests used to interrupt classes at school regularly because nobody could hear the teacher over the roar. Not many know the first nuclear reactor meltdown happened up on that hill in 1959. I remember a neighbor on the street where I grew up that had some chickens. His wife had horses she boarded elsewhere, but would sometimes ride them home and stake them out in the yard to eat the grass. Greenest grass on the street. I also remember other neighbors hassling them about having the animals around. This was probably about 1970. One guy even sued them over it. He was probably jealous of their lawn. Talk about fake people.
My neighbor is one of the best types, he has so many chickens they wander into my yard!
I am not one of those crazy dog owners with yappng barking dogs in my yard, chickens are safe.
