Why worry about keeping your job (or husband) if the big government will provide for you if you lose it?
I was at the Wal-Mart doing a computer based learning module the other day. They were telling me that people will buy things that are at eye level. They were also telling me the little secrets of how they merchandise things. I think that they figured out they could short us all and we would still run all over ourselves to blow money. Maybe it's because there are so many more people now than there were back in the 70's. Maybe it's a volume of customers issue. I look at Wal-Mart and imagine how much money they could actually make if they provided good customer service.
I can remember back in the 70's, when we would go to the gas station, there was a man attending the pump who would pump the gas and clean our windshield and check our oil. He would bring the credit card slider out and do the payment right there at the car. We never had to get out. Of course, he pumped our gas.
In the 70's, when you went to Sears for shoes, there were people working in the department who would measure your foot and go get the size you were looking for. They would put the shoe on your feet and you could see if you liked them. Things were done this way.
When you went to Sears for bras, the women could measure you and help fit you for a bra. There was real customer service.
Now, you can forget being helped by an actual person no matter where you go. If you go to McDonald's at 10 o'clock at night, you are going to wait 15 minutes in the drive through for a small order.
Customer service has gone to crap.
Management thinks that they are Number One.
It's so sad.
I have seen the future and the future is Stupid.
