[quote:Ozicell:MV8zNzEyOTA1XzY2NDUzMzE5XzhCODRCMTU=] [quote:LisaDiane:MV8zNzEyOTA1X0I3OUQyNDVD] I always quote the Lord's prayer from the Kings James version when Jesus instructs us how to pray. But today, I was reading it in context, and noticed that the words had changed. I remember it as ..."Thy will be done ON earth as it is in heaven." But today my KJV bible reads: " Thy will be done IN earth as it is in heaven." Everyone of my versions of the Bible use the word IN earth instead of ON earth. How do you remember it?
KJV says 'IN' earth NKJV says 'ON' earth I have always believed that 'IN' earth is more applicable as I feel it relates to our earthen vessels we call our bodies. In earth means that the Lord's will be done in 'My Being'! 'ON' earth, however, removes the statement from 'My Being' and generalizes it over the whole Earth! All that aside, I have never understood why Christianity insists on 'Parroting' this prayer when directly before the Lord says 'Don't use vain repetitions'! He also doesn't say - Pray this - He says - pray 'Like' this or I think it also says 'After this Manner'! From that, I take that the 'Lord's prayer' is a template or pattern of prayer and not a pray to be parroted! Just MHO for what it's worth!
