Finally some GOOD news...
the Battery has made huge strides since Galvani made the first dead fog's legs jump. .
That name made me think of the galvinized fencing around my yard, looked it up and sure enough that's one of his discovieries. Cool, learn something new every day and I've already learned half a dozen things before noon today.
well, that's a bit of a misnomer i think. i don't recall ever reading anywhere where Galvani did any Electro-Plating research. (Sir Humphrey Davey was prominent in that area though) . Galvani didn't even invent the battery. Volta was inspired by some of Galvani's results, and it was Volta who actually invented the Battery. so, the "volt" is not a misnomer. (the "Galvanometer" is the same misnomer. Galvani must have had a good PR agent.) .
Remember those black balls in Futurama that powered the green spacecraft they always used?
It seems scientists have actually found a way to make that a reality, but with clear, lab made diamonds that are made with upcycled radioactive waste!

Applications include powering space craft with this 'clean' energy source, medical devices and even satellites.
