[quote:Shanky:MV8zOTAwODU0XzcwMzA3OTUwX0Y4NzI2OTAz] [quote:Dalton89:MV8zOTAwODU0XzcwMzA3NzM2XzRERDU0NkJB] OP you must have missed the subtext that Wakanda had advanced science and technology spawned from vibranium development. The biggest problem I had with the film came at the very end scene after credits where King T'Challa declares he will share vibranium tech with the world. This goes against everything Nick Fury and The Avengers fought for in the 1st Avengers movie which is the premise that alien science and technology needs to be protected and not fall into enemy hands. I think this scene was added to minimize the homogenous and isolationist wakandans for the SJW crowd so that they could appear more "inclusive" than they really were. And for good damn reasons that Nick Fury would agree with obviously. Black Panther was on par with the first two Thor flicks. Nothing special.
Sorry bro, I think the first two Thor movies were better. Seriously, the thing about Black Panther that blew my mind was that it portrayed blacks...as blacks. Spear chucking, infighting, crazily dressed tribes looking to kill each other - oh yeah, then there's vibranium sprinkled in to make them look intelligent. There isn't one other thing in the movie besides vibranium to remotely make the savages look civilized. Bald women warriors with spears? Men still wearing animal skins with spears/swords? Some dude with a huge coin in his lip? No. Huge disservice IMHO. Then again, pretty damn true. As soon as someone can point me to a single country on planet Earth successfully run by blacks, I'll shut up.
OK, so I just watched Black Panther now that it's on Netflix.
Holy crap, this is supposed to be some fantastic movie depicting POC in a positive way???
They're spear chuckers from the outset. Hell, they're spear chuckers in the utopia that is Wakanda.
This was not what I expected based on the rave reviews it received.
Sure there were some cool effects with aircraft but for the most part the POC were depicted as spear chucking neanderthals.
Christ, the dude wearing green with the distended lip? Is this considered progress??
Sorry, I won't be watching this one a second time.
No offense meant to anyone but this was a Fail in my book.
