Scenario: The water has been turned off 1 minute ago...your toilet has 1 flush left. Can you build an alternate pooping device before you have to go? Will you need to go to the store for parts? Are you going to wait until you're crossing your legs trying to hold it in? Everybody seems to have a theory...but not an actual plan. - MC
SInce I have a composting toilet it is a moot point. But it is easy to build a shitter. Pee down the sink, never in the toilet. I've had to train myself to not urinate and shit at the same time. Makes it kind of funny when I am in the city. Take a piss, wait 5 minutes, go take a dump. That gets quizzical looks! So have a 5 gallon bucket (pre-make a seat if you need one) and stash a bag of sphagnum moss 'in case'. Put an inch or two of moss at the bottom, shit, cover with moss. And DON'T pee in it!
Obviously few women would be capable of peeing in the sink - next idea? Also, if the sewer backed up in the toilet during this outage of misery, what's your plan? I found a child's toy at the Dollar tree which is football shape, with some sort of stick sticking out of it - no idea what it is meant to be, but the "football" seems the right size to shove into the bottom of the toilet. If it all starts coming up all the drains, I think it's time to run away - no idea how to do that!
Original Message
Continuation of another thread of wonderful people with the best ever ideas for practical prepping even for those with little money.
We discuss power outages including CME and EMP, heating and cooking methods, first aid, foods; we run disaster scenarios to see if we know what to do.
This is probably the only prepping thread a person would need, whether long-time prepper here to share, or newbie prepper here to learn and everyone in between.
