Not exactly enough to severely burn a human, but enough to quickly heat up a MRE's contents -------- Any idea if those are available to the public?
It is elemental iron
You can find this iron material in hand warmer packets. However, when I used to go backpacking on short trips, I preferred my stove made out of a tuna can which weighed about one ounce. Burned hexamine tablets in it to warm up water for coffee, instant oatmeal, etc. No smoke for those who want to be stealthy. BTW, check out utube backpacking videos. You can make your own equivalent to MREs much cheaper. One of my faves was using dry potato flakes, powdered milk, and parmesan cheese along with some spices in a ziplock. Add to hot water and get potato cheese soup in minutes. There are lots more recipes online.
Continuation of another thread of wonderful people with the best ever ideas for practical prepping even for those with little money.
We discuss power outages including CME and EMP, heating and cooking methods, first aid, foods; we run disaster scenarios to see if we know what to do.
This is probably the only prepping thread a person would need, whether long-time prepper here to share, or newbie prepper here to learn and everyone in between.
