Wanted to mention a couple things. 8 drops of bleach purifies a gallon of water. Let dirty water settle, strain out the "chunks" and pour into a clean container. Add 8 drops of plain ole Clorox bleach. let sit a half hr. Also, keep an eye open for natural "edibles" in your area, yard or neighborhood. Every single variety of the Hosta plant is edible-leaves, shoots, flowers etc. I have a lot of the green and white striped ones in my yard. All edible. Also those orange daylilies that grow wild-edible flowers and tuber roots. Roots are like potatoes. roast or fry in oil. Remember, you don't need much meat to flavor veggies. You would be surprisedat what can be foraged. I had to research post apocalyptic survival stuff, and found out all this. I went out and dug up hostas and daylilly roots just to try it out. LOL Not Bad!
Thanks for the info. I was a camp nature counselor in college. I use to have hike where we’d pick edibles. Dandelion greens, black birch tree, fiddleheads, lots out there. Reminds me of that show the weather channel had. Fat Guys in the Woods. I thought it was a riot. They have to survive for 5 days with no food and drool at the site of a blue berry they all have to split. That’s nothing for us girls especially before beach season. lol
I LOVED that show! ha ha. Still can find reruns once in a while.
Continuation of another thread of wonderful people with the best ever ideas for practical prepping even for those with little money.
We discuss power outages including CME and EMP, heating and cooking methods, first aid, foods; we run disaster scenarios to see if we know what to do.
This is probably the only prepping thread a person would need, whether long-time prepper here to share, or newbie prepper here to learn and everyone in between.
