[quote:IJumpInIt:MV80MDY4ODQ2XzczNzI0MTkwXzc0RTlBQjhF] [quote:Anonymous Coward 71611133:MV80MDY4ODQ2XzczNzIyNzY1X0EyRkQ2MEEw] I never liked 'Another One Bites The Dust'. Then, when I was on a Union contract negotiations trip I got dragged to a strip bar. This stripper came out to the song, and although she was fucking hot as hell I couldn't help but think 'WTF? Who strips to this?' She proceeded to give the most amazing performance I've ever seen (not that I frequent strip bars often). Not trashy - a real fucking sexy, talented performance. Like from that movie 'Striptease' with Demi Moore. Later when she went around offering private dances, I accepted. Went back into the little room, and I told her I just wanted to tell her what an amazing performance she gave and I didn't even want a private dance. I didn't hit on her at all. I just wanted her to know that I enjoyed her performance. We chatted for a few minutes, that's all. I gave her a break from the horny, pawing losers for a few minutes. When we left she ran halfway across the bar to give me a hug and tell me how much she enjoyed the 'private dance' - which made me look like a total Chad in front of the other Union guys, which was pretty awesome. That was my first contract negotiation trip but I got huge props from the other guys for that. God knows what they thought happened, but I wasn't shutting down any speculation. Totally changed how I think about that song. I can't hear it without thinking about her performance.
^^^THIS^^^ Thank you for sharing that - great story and memory! Like you, I too will hear a song and don't care who wrote it... what they stand for... if the music is good I listen to it. End of story. Some are not that way though - to each their own. I thought this new vid was awesome - always liked simplistic performances. Back when MTV was decent 20 years ago (I remember it coming on the air too lol) their 'Unplugged' shows were awesome! In the linked article it says the original pianist did a re-recording for this vid. Studio equipment has come a long way since 1985 so can understand that.
Thought some out there might appreciate this. Have known many millenials who like 80's music and/or Freddie Mercury himself.
Personally as a 50-something, I remember these years fondly. Freddie always had raw talent and it shows loud and clear here.
Enjoy!!
"A previously unreleased track from Freddie Mercury, the 1986 ballad “Time Waits for No One” from the concept album for the stage musical “Time,” dropped on Thursday — complete with a music video of the late star singing the tune."
