To prevent fires to Rancho Santa Fe (my take on it). Power was out for 36 hours. Still had gas and water, just no electricity. But they only did it for a few areas, we could go to a restaurant on the other side of town, and they had power. They were trying to keep certain areas they deemed fire hazards from catching fire from downed power lines due to the Santa Ana winds (very hot dry desert wind that often happens in the fall). It sucked, but we managed, but it was only for 36 hours. 5-7 days would really really suck, and yes, we are selling to move out of this state. [/quote]

SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — Several cities in the Bay Area are
likely to be impacted by PG&E’s Public Safety Power
Shutoffs this week, including parts of Napa, Contra Costa
and Alameda counties.
San Jose — Mayor Sam Liccardo said residents and business
in east and south San Jose should prepare to be without
power for up to seven days.
