Original Message Southern California is about to be hit with big storm, where we are at, looking at near foot of snow, not bad for desert..

Lower lands nearly 2-3 inches of rain... Mudslides possible!

Some up the upper mountains could get up to 3 feet of snow..

Forecast remains on track for a powerful winter storm to blast the area later tonight through Friday bringing locally heavy snowfall. Low pressure approaching the Southern California coast today will bring increasing clouds and winds through this afternoon with a few snow showers possible. Southeast winds developing 15-30mph with gusts over 40mph possible, cold with temperatures in the upper 20's to lower 30's. Low-pressure will skirt the southern California coast before moving inland across Northern Baja/San Diego County, which should put the San Bernardino Mountains in a good return flow on the north side of the low. A pretty classic backslider setting up with wrap around moisture bringing snow, heavy at times tonight through Thursday, travel is not recommended with near white-out conditions possible. The snow level could dip as low as 3,000 feet with a foot or more of snow likely above 3,000 feet. This setup tends to favor higher snowfall totals across the eastern San Bernardino mountains, including Big Bear with 1-2 feet of new snow likely with locally up to 3 feet possible. Snow showers will decrease Friday as low pressure exits the area, setting the stage for an amazing blue-bird weekend. Continued cold through the end of the week with highs in the 20's to lower 30's, while lows drop into the teens & even single digits, warming slightly over the weekend. Another storm is possible Monday, but snowfall accumulations should remain fairly light, potentially in the 2-4"
