Most people don't know that it's their soul that rises after the body dies, not the earth personality and/or ego. Those stay with the dead body. Our souls are much more knowledgeable about what happens after death than we earthlings are. But if you knock, the door will open to more spiritual (not religious!) knowledge while you're still alive.
One has to ask: What good is the spiritual "Knowledge" if it dies with the body? --- On a separate but related note: you think it's terrible that your personality will be gone, but honestly your higher soul will be very happy to be back to "itself" again. In an episode of Rick and Morty, they are seen playing a virtual reality game called "Roy" where you assume the role of "Roy" and it's so immersive you believe you ARE Roy and the game feels like it lasts 80 years until you come out of it, realize you were gone five minutes, and everyone has a laugh that you had such a low score or that you went back to work at the factory. You realize Roy's life was pretty dull, but that was the point of it...to get into it and find out that even in the mundane and banal, a soul can find engagement.
