[quote:The King of Rock 'n Roll:MV80MjM4MTc1Xzc3MTI4OTUxX0FEMUM1NzU=] Aftonbladet: Putin forced to act like a democratic elected leader By diminishing the power of the president and giving Parliament more to say about, Putin is trying to prepare the ground for himself as someone who can continue to pull the strings more in the background. Exactly how it will go is too early to say yet. Clearly, Putin does not want to repeat the old trick of a direct job exchange with his Prime Minister Dmitri Medvedev. It was an obvious way to bypass the constitution and give him a new opportunity to come back as president later. When that happened in 2012, the citizens were cursed. It was the first time the Russian people had shown their dissatisfaction with Putin by going out on the streets and demonstrating. https://www.aftonbladet.se/nyheter/kolumnister/a/naJg3a/ett-satt-for-putin-att-halla-sig-kvar-vid-makten
Russian government resigns
Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev has announced that the entire government is resigning in a surprise statement released shortly after President Vladimir Putin delivered his annual state-of-the-nation address.
Accepting the resignation, Putin thanked the ministers for their hard work and asked them to function as a caretaker government until a new one can be formed.
Medvedev and Putin had met for a work meeting to discuss the state-of-the-nation address earlier on Wednesday, the Kremlin said. Medvedev explained that the cabinet is resigning in accordance with Article 117 of the Russian Constitution, which states that the government can offer its resignation to the president, who can either accept or reject it.
