[quote:Anonymous Coward 78659621:MV80MzE5NzAwXzc4NjQ5OTA5X0UwRDY3MQ==] [quote:The Laughing Cavalier:MV80MzE5NzAwXzc4NjQ5Nzk0X0E1MEQzQzhG] [quote:Anonymous Coward 78659621:MV80MzE5NzAwXzc4NjQ5NzUwX0VENUI3OUE=] Just had a text from my wife (NHS) an employee had locked herself away in a room and refused to come out, she became hysterical (the woman, not the wife) and they have sent her home. Lots of jittery people about, not everyone's treating it as party-time.
I take your point, but the simple fact is, the flu kills many more people a year than this, and I don't recall seeing the world collapse because of it.
I agree, but as I understand the initial worry about containment was that this is a novel (new) strain of the Coronavirus (which is a flu virus in itself) and the world could do without a new strain that appears to be so contagious and becomes an annual event. If the info is to be believed the problems lie in the severity of ease of transmission, the fact that it can be transmitted prior to symptoms showing (first 5 days or so) and 'they' say that those first days are also the time that you may be most contagious. The numbers of ICU units are not available to deal with the severity of this disease so as a country we want to limit the number of infections appearing at any time in order to not overwhelm the system. Due to the nature of this virus it's worse than the SARS and MERS combined. I believe we are dealing with what we are hearing, if there are other underlying reasons I have no idea but time will tell. The UK government has said that they will start clamping down on the people if they don't stop gathering and start 'social distancing'.
What a load of bollocks. If people are being told to still go to work, except for poxy office staff, then how the fuck can we stop mingling?
You have no choice on the work floor about coming into contact with others, but for some reason, office staff are more at risk??
