[quote:girlie45:MV80MzIwMjQ0Xzc4NzE2MzcwX0JBNTBCQTlD] [quote:Gemini Rising:MV80MzIwMjQ0Xzc4NzE0MDcyX0ZDMTFBRDYy] Even though the governor has issued a hold on all judgments being filed, y'all need to know that the debt collectors are still at work. My place of employment is still working, e-filing lawsuits and preparing a pile of garnishments to be filed as soon as the hold is lifted. If you have debt, now is not the time to ignore it. Contact your creditors and do whatever you can to avoid going into default and becoming another piece of paper on my desk.
My husband does collections as well, bragging that you are going to file a judgement on someone during this crisis, or soon thereafter is wrong, and by the way is in direct violation of the FDCPA. You can not as a collector ever threaten to file a judgement if you have no intention to or have no legal right to do so. In this instance, I am sure you are behaving, in the same manner, you likely do at work, and I am here to tell you, that as a collections professional- it won't get you very far- that's why you have to resort to garnishments and e-filed lawsuits. Your attitude comes through in your post. In this unprecedented time, you should sit back and gain some consideration for others who may not have it as good as you do. You are an essential worker. Take a breath and realize that sometimes people just get behind due to situations they have no control over. Be kind and respectful of that fact. It will take you far in your career. Suing every single person just adds to the bad debt for your organization, and garnishments are usually the types of things done by the govt or fly by night creditors. So if you are doing this, I highly doubt you work at a reputable place. ( written by a former collector and debt settlement pro and wife to a very experienced, award winning collections pro)
