[quote:Dutchy20:MV80NDc5ODAxXzg4NjA3NDQyX0M5NkMyQTEy] [quote:Anonymous Coward 80639677:MV80NDc5ODAxXzg4NjA3MDk4XzlCMUUxNTlE] How does this end? Does it ever end? Will the virus mutate down or is it going to get worse with every mutation? Does everyone catch it become weaker and then second or third infection die off? Is this going to be an E.L.E? If it gets worse vaccines will fail and we will be back to square one.
Nobody knows how at this point. But it will end. There are strong indications that the effects of infection are very asymmetrical on the population overall. Main problem being that we cannot at this time which factors those are so we can use them to our advantage. Given that even if the virus does not adapt to us in a way that promotes symbiosis, we will. The caveat to that being it will come with great suffering and the chance of the virus overcoming the limitations that any innate protection some enjoy is present. For now we are in a bit of holding pattern of hope and potential solutions. At any point we could solve this all but there is no guarantee it will happen. Accepting that Covid-19 will be a significant cause of death for the foreseeable future seems unavoidable.
