[quote:Tiger One:MV80NTAwOTA3XzkwNjU4NTI2XzNCNDdCNThE] The Vet finally called me. Jewel's kidney levels have gone down. They were very high when she came in. One number is now almost normal, and the rest are still high, but not as bad, and have come down quite a bit. She appears to be in kidney failure. Her guts are fine now, no problems. I am putting her on a special diet when she gets home tomorrow morning. I will be cooking her food. As for treats, I got to find some low residue ones she likes. She can be very picky. The home cooked kidney diet for dogs was given to me over 40 years ago by an old Vet. I gave it to my dog I had then, Dutchess, who went into kidney failure from heartworm medicine. Here it is, if anyone needs it for their fur baby. 1 pound lean hamburger 1 can wax beans, drained 1 can stewed tomatoes 1 cup uncooked rice 4 cups water Add rice, hamburger and water in a big pot, bring to a boil until the rice is cooked. Add the wax beans and tomatoes and boil for about 15 more minutes. Let it cool down, and serve your pet. Put the leftovers in a tightly sealed bowl. The mixture will be good in the fridge for about 5 days. Give your dog the same amount of the home cooked, as you would their regular canned food. Depending on the size of your dog, the batch can last the full 5 days, or less if you have a big dog. With Sheba and Dutchess, it was 3 days, but they were big dogs. Thank you all for the prayers !!!:grouphug: [/quote]

I am not perfect, just a sometimes disobedient Child of God. I am Orthodox, having arrived at the Faith that has sustained me on this lifelong journey, for the Peace of my Soul.
I will be as fair as possible in my moderation of this thread, but I will not tolerate any off color or questionable posts. This thread has a purpose, a purpose to help one another through this journey on this rock, both Spiritually and in other aspects. You are NOT alone !
