[quote:theEXpatrioticgirl:MV80NzIyMzcyXzg2MDA3NjEzXzg3NzcxM0Q2] [quote:Anonymous Coward 80079556:MV80NzIyMzcyXzg2MDA3MDEwXzFBRjMzRURF] Good. Oil prices and the entire oil business was depressed as part of the entire country being depressed with no demand for oil. Crude and distillate prices were so low that they were unsustainable. Refineries were shut down, exploration stopped and a lot of people lost their jobs. In some cases, gasoline was being sold as a loss just to move it because inventories were so high there was no place to offload crude from ships and no place to store it. How long do you think that could go on? We also have a spike right now from last week's weather. We were close to being in a depression and things have been improving. One of the first signs of a recovering economy is petroleum prices recovering. That is a good thing. But Biden has only been president for a month and he can hardly take credit for that.
That is a crock of shit. You are flat out making that up...IT WAS THE EXACT OPPOSITE. We were enjoying low gas prices because we are (WERE, soon) oil independent. Our dependency on oil overseas has always been nothing more than an excuse to go to war in the Middle East. Right now, we have more oil than Saudi Arabia in a 100 square mile piece of land in the NW corner of New Mexico. We've ALWAYS had PLENTY of oil, we just didn't know how to access this particular area and the democrats wouldn't give the funding. I wonder why! The Trump administration put everybody to work out there. Say what you will about the guy but as far back as I can remember, long before he was president, he always said that, in this country, there was no reason for our gas prices to be above $2.00/gallon...and he meant it. For four years, we could actually afford to keep our tanks full. You got a problem with that? Really??? The problem with NM was that the type of fracking we were already doing in Oklahoma and other areas just wouldn't cut. We had to perfect it just slightly but never had the contracts until 2016 -2017 when Trump gave the okay. I have a friend of 15 years who is a traveling field supervisor for the oil companies and ONLY UP UNTIL TRUMP CAME IN were the jobs scarce. And they were! And yup, gas prices were sky high. Once they had the okay to build what they needed to open up that area in New Mexico, it took them no time at all to get it up and running. Crews were being shipped in from all over the country and being paid very well.By the end of 2016/beginning of 2017, New Mexico had produced 145 million barrels of oil and 1.27 trillion cubic feet of natural gas. NOW COMMIE BIDEN IS PUTTING A STOP TO ALL OF THAT AND UP GO THE GAS PRICES. NOW people will be out of work but not before. Nice try. You like paying HIGH PRICES WHEN WE DON'T HAVE TO? What's the matter with you?:bash: new-mexico-foresees-more-state-income-from-oil-in-short-run https://www.stltoday.com/news/national/govt-and-politics/new-mexico-foresees-more-state-income-from-oil-in-short-run/article_3a7db0f5-72f3-5117-bd15-3659bb203cf9.html A team of economists from three state agencies and the Legislature said Wednesday that state government income is likely to increase by $339 million during the fiscal year that begins July 1 to a total of $7.55 billion. The outlook in December was lower by nearly $200 million. Biden has vowed to cut greenhouse gas emissions from oil and natural gas. In January, the administration halted leasing, permitting and other approvals for petroleum development on federal lands by suspending for 60 days the regulatory authority of federal land managers across the country. Biden is a piece of shit.
