[quote:Anonymous Coward 76842300:MV80NzUzMTIxXzg2NTk3NDg4XzUxM0VBQzIw] More than once. Three scariest examples: Our ambulance almost slid off the Inola bridge transporting a very sick man, and good friend, in an ice storm. I was in the back, as we were sliding, unbuckling my friend and patient, so we could all three dive out of the truck as we sled toward a 90 foot drop. Our was standing to the left of a door when a drunk Indian shot out a motel door because we were their to treat his injured girlfriend. He blasted the door with double 00. Left a pie plate size hole in the door at the exact spot where my partner was standing a moment earlier when I said, "hey, step over here by me." Our air boat stalled while rescuing a lady and her kids off a bridge during a flood. I was tethered to an old iron bridge when the air boat died and drifted out to the end of the mooring line. I could feel the bridge shuddering with the force of the water. On my right hand side, a twenty to thirty feet raging Oklahoma creek swollen out of its banks. To my left, a roadway covered in eighteen inches of water. Just enough water to throw her minivan against the iron railing. Somewhere there is a great photo of it with the caption. "Paramedic Clarence Winchester (not my real name, duh) stands on the rail of the Undisclosed Creek Bridge as Firefighter Great Guy attempts to restart air boat engine." Honestly, I think number three still makes me a little queasy. And you know everyday in this country, there are volunteer firefighters and EMTs that do those same things with little more than a "thank you". While fucking fat, useless cunts like Henry Kissinger try to remind us how expendable we all are to them.
I drank booze and took Xanex, together, abusing both, for far too long. Never died. I quit cold turkey (both at the same time) 10 years ago. Should have died but didn't.
I am sure some of you have even died before. If so, welcome back.
