[quote:Anony-Mom 43185302:MV80OTA2NjY3Xzg5NjYwMjIyXzlENzI1MzY4] [quote:Anony-Mom 43185302:MV80OTA2NjY3Xzg5NjU0ODk4XzVCMDYwQkVD] [quote:LaGata:MV80OTA2NjY3Xzg5NjUzOTg3XzRFQjc3NUIy] [quote:Midwest Skeptic:MV80OTA2NjY3Xzg5NjUzODE4X0UwOEI5NUQ=] People need to keep in mind that with Mount St. Helens it was rumbling for several weeks before one strong quake dislodged the side of the mountain and it blew out sideways. Similar historical reports exist for both Krakatoa and Tambora in what is now Indonesia (Tambora believed to be the largest reuption in the last 2000 or so years). Ditto for Mt. Pinatubo in the Phillipeans, which is the largest or second largest eruption since Tambora. In other words do NOT expect a MAJOR event IMMEDIATELY on LaPalma. It needs to fester and build up a "head of steam" so to speak before it will do anything serious. How long? Based on history I would say a minimum of 2 weeks to 3 weeks, if Tambora and Pinatubo are any indication 6 to 8 weeks. =============================================== It would be nice to know if Geologists have determined if the Island of LaPalma IS CRACKED all the way across, like the big island of Hawaii is, ... which would facilitate an entire portion of the island splitting off and falling into the sea. Maybe somebody can chime in with that research.
Good info. Like Mt St Helens--something to keep on the radar and have an eye out for possibly into the longer-short term.
I'd say look on the main El Hiero thread from some years ago but it is gone. If it collapses you have roughly 8 hours to get off the east coast before the tsunami hits. Anywhere from 300 ft- to 800 feet plus depending on how many millions of tonnage of rock collapses. Do not depend on the tv to tell you! They do not want us to know.
I FOUND IT!!! Some of THE BEST INFO on La Palma, El Heirro and Canary volcanoes as well as the Azores Volcanoes! TONS of scientific info. They are All Connected! https://www.godlikeproductions.com/forum1/message1617390/pg1 :5a:
Cumbre Vieja volcano or Cumbre Vieja volcanic ridge is area on La Palma Island (Canary Islands) .Potential eq swarm and eruption could trigger landslide causing widespread tsunami on Atlantic Ocean!
Update 16 th September
Deformation up to 10 cm is reported .Quakes are increasing in size and amount again.Looks like harmonic tremor is happening!
Update late 17 th September Polish Time
We are in phase of low frequency microtremors/microquakes like yesterday
Update:
People felt the eruption coming
Neighbors of La Palma "felt a noise for days". Luis Alberto Rodríguez García is Head of Engineering Operations at the Gran Telescopio Canario, in the Roque de los Muchachos de La Palma. He tells us that for days he had sounded like a vibration in his ear. And what has happened to more people. Today he is at home watching the lava run down the hillside and across the roads.
