[quote:Anonymous Coward 80856672:MV80OTA3Njk4Xzg5NjUwMjY1XzlGQkYwRkQx] [quote:Anonymous Coward 68134284:MV80OTA3Njk4Xzg5NjQyMTk4X0YzQjkzMEMx] Canada too has problems filling jobs. My hometown is a little shit hole in Ontario. Two years ago a guy couldn’t find work. Now? Every store has signs “now hiring”. Im in Alberta. Many many places from fast food to oil field are begging for guys. Me and my wife noticed many old people in our neighborhood we havent seen in a while walking their dogs. We dont know them by name - basically by their dogs as we are dog people. They just disappeared.
My partner and I used to walk our dogs together every day but she recently skipped town when things started looking too difficult (women....) so our neighbors don't see us walking dogs every day like they used to. A lot of social fabric has been destroyed by this covid bs so I can tell you that people are dispursing. Some just dying, others running away.
How are so many places understaffed when unemployment and eviction moratoriums are gone?
I don’t believe that many people are suddenly hiding now because of CoVid and not working just waiting to get evicted. Even fast food is paying $15 an hour in states where it’s not the mandatory minimum wage - and heroic grocery store workers stayed on the job at the height of the fear pandemic.
Why would all those people not be working now? What are all these mysterious ‘better jobs’ they left for?
Are the supply shortages really because so many people are MIA?
