One asked if he could pay me $100 to pull a catalytic converter from a vehicle sitting on our side yard, the other outright asking to buy a different vehicle. (we rarely drive it and it has a few cobwebs on it and he said he noticed them. I should also add we live in a quite neighborhood, off the beaten path on a dead-end street). As soon as they saw me answer (I'm a large (intimidating I've been told) male with vet plates on my vehicle) and we have a big-ass dog who barks when someone knocks- They can't seem to get out of here quick enough when they see me, sorta yelling their offer over their shoulder as they bail- I'm like wait, why don't you leave your number and I'll talk to thee wife about it...?" "Naw, I'm good man, I'm not from here" they both replied. -Well NO shit I thought. It was odd the first time and straight strange the second- If I didn't know better, I would think these guys were 'casing' my place or something. It used to be (10 years ago) you couldn't get a decent burrito to save your life around these parts. Now, the most common language I hear in the grocery store is Spanish, and many/most appear to be straight off the bus (still wearing the shit they bought in Mexico- Hecka short people with cowboy hats, boots, etc.) IDK... shit is getting weirder by the day here- they are also currently throwing-up a fucking FEMA camp in our small (under 10k pop) town, like a mile from our house- the SECOND one I might add. They say it is for victims of the fire, bu those were over a year ago now, so...?
lol, i live in oregon too, moran... you just answered your own question, rural oregon... try coming to Washington county..... i see more people NOW than 2-3 years ago.... the population seems double NOW than before... traffic is so fucking bad here now. jesus fucking christ
Thanks for the name calling fucktard- yeah, we have had fuckloads of people moving here- traffic everywhere (which makes empty stores even stranger) and WHY turn a perfectly good 4 lane highway, that has been as such since it's inception in the 80's into a TWO lane one? (easier for checkpoints etc.?) Makes NO rational sense, much like most of what we got going on...
People, seems to me, are no longer randomly going into stores to 'browse' due to how strange the experience can be with - do i mask, do i not mask?' etc. Think about this: 3 years ago if you walked into a bank wearing a mask there is a chance a swat team would be called - Now you cannot walk in withouta mask. How are so many places understaffed when unemployment and eviction moratoriums are gone?
I don’t believe that many people are suddenly hiding now because of CoVid and not working just waiting to get evicted. Even fast food is paying $15 an hour in states where it’s not the mandatory minimum wage - and heroic grocery store workers stayed on the job at the height of the fear pandemic.
Why would all those people not be working now? What are all these mysterious ‘better jobs’ they left for?
Are the supply shortages really because so many people are MIA?
