I personally have been using fans in windows my whole life. And if you aren't use to it, now is a good time to adjust. Mostly because of sleep hours, it can be really stressfull, it forces you to adjust. Wake up at a certain hour to close windows/pull fan out. Etc, can keep your house super cool if done right, save lives even.
Thanks. I figured I better adjust now and see if it's possible / bearable for me. If not, then I better consider moving. Speaking of stress, I got some form of heat rash or it might have been reactivated chicken pox (shingles). Never had that happen before, but I'm 50 and at the age where reactivation might happen under stress. I initially thought it was poison ivy, but my poison ivy medication did nothing and it was in several spots - my arms and shins. That's not a normal location for shingles, but who knows. Calamine lotion helped, whatever it was. The biggest annoyance was waiting until 2 AM for the temperature to get cool enough (under 90F!) so I could sleep even with a fan blowing right on me. I had to take a short shower every night and change the bed sheets twice as often as usual. During the highs of the day, I had to have a fan on me inside or sweat was just pouring off me. It's cooler outside in the shade than in any kind of structure that absorbs solar heat and provides no airflow. I learned and documented quite a bit, which is what I wanted. Others will have to learn on fly. I didn't even need to build a swamp cooler, but that's what I'll do soon.
It'll be a shock to their system when it all abruptly gets shut off. They didn't make people dependent on these things for their benefit.
