[quote:Anonymous Coward 540299:MV82ODA2ODRfMTAzODIzODlfMjNDMzQ2MTQ=] [quote:LouisWinthorpeIII] It's no surprise, and it's "out of the book". The book in question is brave new world. Read it, and behold "the plan" in all it's majesty.
Brave New World is a great book and true in many ways. One point that Huxley missed though is that the subclasses develope abilites and gifts that the over class do not develop. I knew many dumbed down kids in school. Some of them became street wise and some became abnormally compassionate. Even with the deck obviously stacked against the lower classes many were able to move up. The dumbing down of the poor has been done since the cave man days. The Brave New World isn't brave or new it is just the world.
So tell me now that lifelong poverty is not induced through genuine physical handicap, or that it is the fault of the individual. Wake up to the realities of poverty now, or wake up to them standing on line at the soup kitchen.
