"Two large ships sink every week on average," said Wolfgang Rosenthal, of the GKSS Research Centre in Geesthacht, Germany. "But the cause is never studied to the same detail as an air crash. It simply gets put down to 'bad weather'."

on average over a hundred "LARGE" ships a yr sink....

maybe someone else can navigate the page better or has the time for the research :) I am wondering what is on those ships and why we don't hear about them. Aren't there oh IDK like PEOPLE that need rescued and such, how much fuel are they carrying when they go down " on average", etc so why no further investigations as Wolfgang states ?
