I wonder how it will change conversations on here and if the negative responses create or reinforce geographical (and inherently racial) biases.

It has for me. Not FROM me, i don't care where people are situated, but TO me, i'm Australian but my browser uses proxies from Norway, but some don't seem to get that and have accused me of lying. It's bullshit, now i gotta think twice about the threads i take part in. The thing is, if i google my ip it shows up as a proxy so why they can't have a proxy flag i don't know.

is there a reason you MUST use a proxy?
if so, I do see the possible need for a proxy flag... would be a good idea, maybe

The flag feature doesn't show the EU flag, it shows the flag of each individual country.

For the US, it shouldn't just show the US flag, it should show what state they are in. Like show the US flag - California, or US flag - New York. If you're gonna break down the EU, you should break down the US into individual states.

I must admit I'm LOVING being able to see where the comments are coming from...
and it's interesting that most of the negative comments about America seem to be coming from other countries.
