Quoting: CaptainZeroA What an awesome brother you are! I'm 35 and with those weapons I would adore you as an older bro if you also bought me a tazor for my birthday,a 9mm for Christmas, and a shot gun for a nice house warming present. After all that I would at least buy us a bottle of Crystal for new years and would toast too family! I wouldn't need a man then... Wow though! I got to admit to you you are a good older brother if you did. Last Edited by Eve_4000Bc on 03/15/2010 02:22 AM Question authority every time. Ask them how that makes them feel. Ask them why? Ask them when you have an opinion with your opinion and question them with that! There is no being with ALL THE answers accept for God. Even still question. Leaves no doubt who was in the right and saves on legal bills. Last Edited by CaptainZero on 03/15/2010 02:28 AM Have a heapin helpin of hospitality! |

It's totally under rated for parents to give the boys one and not the girls. I support the females getting their needs met on Christmas day and birthdays. It's a perfect gift that says I love you. 2 points! Last Edited by Eve_4000Bc on 03/15/2010 02:36 AM Question authority every time. Ask them how that makes them feel. Ask them why? Camo items are also good to sprinkle about. But if you are dealing with a real stalker, they will bother to know if anyone is around or not. |

Because of an incident (attempted rape) I had I am pretty careful now. All doors/screen/windows locked all the time, etc. I am more aware now and always have at least one weapon ready in each room I am in during day - not just at night when I sleep. I always have had them but just didn't have one in the right room at the right time. At first it seemed weird to do this, even to take a shower, but is now routine. |

That's being a prisoner in your own home. Unfortunately that's how it often is for single women. Above all I recommend a large protective dog if you can do it. Also: serious self-defense classes, the kind that teach you how to overcome the reluctance to hurt another person which most women have. Once you've determined the will to hurt or even kill in self-defense, some pepper spray (one canister in your hand out in public, another easily accessible by your bed) and a handgun which you can easily access and know how to use. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 861370 United States 03/15/2010 05:09 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I should add that for most women training in *the will to hurt* is essential; it's so easy for an attacker to take away a potential weapon if the woman isn't fully prepared to use it. Almost happened to me once. I had pepper spray., was cornered by a creepy homeless guy and he got so close to me he easily could have taken it away and used it on me if someone else hadn't interfered. I decided then and there this would never happen again, and that's when I got into self-defense. Women, remember: it's more than a right to defend yourselves, it's a sacred duty. My self-defense teacher put it this way: "I don't want kill anyone and hope I never have to. But if someone tries to rape or kill me, well, it's on him, and it's his unlucky draw." |

Quoting: CaptainZeroI went down the Salvation army and bought size 14 (yes they have them) work boots, sneakers and hockey skates. I also bought an old XXL Carhart jacket. I told her to leave the work boots on the front porch near the front door next to the welcome mat, everthing else I left on the back porch. I also left an old axe, a sledgehammer and baseball bat on the back porch. All you have to do is give the impression a big son a bitch resides at that address and the would be burgler will go looking for a softer target. Most of them are junkies anyway and by nature are nervous wrecks. Give them something to be nervous about. never make possible weapons avaible to burglars.. mens cloths is good idea .. seriously secure them windows and doors.. make em hard and noisy as all hell to break into .. cause it buys you time to arm up and shoot the bastards .. use heavy duty slide bolts back up locks on all doors . . window guards for windows.. cops say ignore strangers knocking at your door.. they could be casing you and your place to come back lateor get in ith ease. be smart your family depends on it now.. hyard times brings out ugly violent crime levels .. so do not not be a easy suckers any more for possible deadly trouble . get certified gun course .and other training for self defense issues.. . you only get one chance to get it right .. So you better be damm fast and good.. .. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 861370 United States 03/15/2010 05:24 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Again, large, aggressive dogs will deter almost all attackers. Unless they have YOU, specifically, as a target, no intruder will want to risk that. If you can't do that: serious self-defense classes; burglar alarms; pepper spray; guns. In that order. (I put pepper spray before guns, btw, because they're non-lethal, and thus easier to use psychologically, for the average person, like me, who really doesn't want to kill anyone.) |
