WOMENS PRESCRIPT´S REFUSED ON PHARMACISTS RELIGIOUS GROUNDS
Senators Barbara Boxer (D-CA)
and Frank Lautenberg (D-NJ)
introduced legislation
to protect women´s access
to contraception
in response to recent reports
that women seeking birth control
or emergency contraception (EC)
have been turned away by pharmacists.

The legislation would require all pharmacies
to fill all prescriptions or refer customers
to someone who will,

despite pharmacists’ so-called religious
or ethical objections to the nature
of the prescription,

SNIP

Women in a dozen states have reportedly
been turned away by pharmacists,
and at times, even lectured. !
.

The Pharmacy Consumer Protection Act
of 2005 does not require pharmacies
to carry contraceptives, but it does require prescribed items to be reordered if they are out of stock,

even if an individual pharmacist objects,
reports the San Francisco Chronicle.

The bill requires any pharmacy that fills Medicare
or Medicaid prescriptions to make sure all
legal prescriptions are filled quickly,

even if a pharmacist personally objects,

SNIP

In introducing the legislation, Sen. Boxer,
a longtime advocate for women’s access to
contraceptives and reproductive health services,
said,
“When people go into their pharmacy
with a valid prescription, they should have confidence
that their prescription will be filled in a timely manner
and they will not face any harassment.

Contraceptives are legal and safe,
and they help prevent unwanted pregnancies
and abortions,"

SNIP

Sen. Boxer’s legislation is similar
to the Access to Legal Pharmaceuticals Act
(ALPhA),
proposed by Sen. Frank Lautenberg (D-NJ)
and Rep. Carolyn Maloney (D-NY)
earlier this month.

Four states currently allow pharmacists to refuse
to fill prescriptions

that violate their personal beliefs

while 22 other states are considering similar laws,
according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

THOSE CHRISTIANS JUST PUT THEIR LAWS
ON EVERYBODY EVEN IF IT COSTS THEM MONEY

THEY WOULD NEVER DENY A MAN HIS VIAGRA

BUT THEY WILL DENY WOMEN THE CHOICE
OF NOT EVEN GETTING PREGNANT IN THE FIRST PLACE

WHO IN THE NAME OF ALL DIVINITY GAVE SOME PHARMACIST THE RIGHT TO TELL
ANY WOMAN
SHE CANT USE BIRTH CONTROL

WHEN DID WE REVERT TO THE DARK AGES ?

AT THIS RATE EVEN HILLARY STARTS TO LOOK BETTER.

I CANT BELIEVE I SAID THAT !

BUT IT IS EVEN HARDER TO BELIEVE
THAT IN THE 21ST CENTURY WOMEN

ARE REFUSED LEGAL BIRTH CONTROL

THESE RELIGIOUS MEN WHO SEE WOMEN
AS ONLY BREEDERS HAVE NO IDEA HOW
BIG A FIGHT THIS WILL BE.

WOMEN WILL NEVER GO BACK IN THE CAGES
OF MIDIEVAL SUBJUGATION TO SOME MYTH
CALLED GOD WHO SEES US AS LESS THAN HUMAN

If its the morning after pill, they don´t deserve it. If both parties wanted to have sex but not baby, they should have used a condom.

Rape or incest, why abort the child? Its not the childs fault. Why should the child have to die?

Life begins at conception.

This shouldn´t even be necessary. Pharmacists´ busybodying violates patient confidentiality.

But good that it is being addressed. sigh

The morning-after pill (misleadingly called "emergency contraception") essentially causes an early abortion--it kills a living embryonic human being.

It shouldn´t even be sold at all. Even more absurd is to demand that ethical pharmacists (they take a kind of Hippocratic oath, don´t they?) participate in such killing.

I read on a pro-life website. That even though the "pill" is supposed to suppress ovulation it still happens occasionally.

The pill will sometimes prevent the "embryo" from implating in the lining of the uterus also doing an abortion.

2 forms of contraception - Condoms & abstinence.

So rapists fucking girls so they can be fathers that have the right to push themsleves ontheir victims is OK? No wonder this countrey is on ity´s last legs. Barabarism rules the day.

There shouldn´t even BE rape at this point in history. Why Should I or any woman be force to have our bodies ruined forever bny some pig that wants to relieve himself on us? One thing worse than a misogynist nut is the idiot Ann Coulter drone that hates women just as much or more. And themselves.

If anyone rapes me, and I´m forced to have some demon spawn trash, I will kill the little bastard, and him and his whole lousy family. That´s justice.

The morning after pill is supposed to be taken within 48 hours of having done the deed. Many doctors think that the egg hasn´t even had time to implant at this point, and the morning after pill prevents implantation. Regardless, I think aborting within a week of conception is much better than doing it weeks or months later.

"Life begins at conception."

There is no way you could possible know this to be a fact. NO ONE knows when life begins. It´s one of the thousands of mysteries humans are not privy to.

I am so sick and tired of people pushing theory that is impossible to prove, as fact - and that goes for both sides of many issues.

So, if you are forced to have the baby, you´ll kill it?

What are you going to say to that child when you see it face to face one day and it says "mommy, why did you kill me?"

Abortion is murder.

If I became pregnant from rape, I would have the baby. I wouldn´t kill it.

Did you take health or child development in high school?
If you have, then you´ve seen the films that when the egg & sperm join the egg starts dividing. That is the beginning of life.

I can hardly wait. The most influential sexists in western culture are feminists.

Good Grief! "Emergency contraception" is an ABORTION pill! Nobody should be forced to give it!!

If you want to do the dirty deed, go to an abortion mill to get it though it´s a shame that even they exist!

P.S. I´m a woman and feminist for LIFE!!

You see, this is why religion is beomoming less and less relevant to people - of course this leaves people aimless, which is bad, because an important part of our being is our spiritual body - but we don´t need religion to feed it.

As far as when does life begin - nobody knows because nobody in the scientific arena takes the concept seriously. With enough scientific study and money I am sure we could confirm the existence of an etheric body (there is already some science to support this) and thus this could be detected in an unborn child.

There are some esoteric soceities that beleive the soul does not enter the child until the third trimester, although the soul is present around the mother some time before this. Before the soul enters the body, it is nothing but an organ

Re: WOMENS PRESCRIPT´S REFUSED ON PHARMACISTS RELIGIOUS GROUNDS
Nobody is forced to give it - it´s part of the job of the pharmacist to dispense what the physician prescribes and nobody forces anybody to become a pharmacist. Don´t like the job? Move on to a new career.

If a person wants to be a judge they can become a fucking judge the regular way, law school, etc. Pharmacists are not judges. Pharmacists have no right to ask a woman questions about why they´re taking their prescription either. Like the one in WI who asked the woman if her birth control prescription was for hormone therapy or for birth control. When she told him it was for birth control he withheld her prescription because he was catholic and didn´t believe in birth control. Then he refused to give her back the prescription to take elsewhere and refused to transfer her prescription to another pharmacy.

Yes, the fundie crowd thinks the pill is also an abortifacient so after y´all are done denying rape victims a morning after pill be ready to lose your own birth control pills.

6614 - It´s thinking like that, the soul doesn´t enter the body until the 3rd trimester or whatever that gives these selfish women the excuse they want to kill an unborn child.

If you didn´t want to get pregnant in the first place, you should have kept your legs shut or used some sort of birth control. If it was rape or incest, its still a child, it didn´t do anything wrong to be punished by being murdered by its own mother!!!

.

why should women be forced
to have babies forced on them
by rape

a conception from a violent act
begets a nature with many problems

that are then passed onto more generations

more welfare, institutions,
and taxes because of a forced impregnation.

A woman owns her body

her choices are hers

if she wants to take a pill its her business

if a person holds a certain religious view

he must keep it out of his profession

as JFK promised to keep his
catholic views out of his
office if elected

these regressive religious attitudes
are there to keep women
from stepping up to
stand along side of men

and together build a better
social construct with less
unwantd babies
and more healthy families

If we did this then what would
the church men do for a living ?

and where would they get the
kids to go to war for them

to get more palaces, pedophiles,
popes and power?

Has it occured to anyone that there are medical reasons to take "The Pill". I cannot have children, it is physically imposible. BUT, I still have to take the pill for purely medical reasons. No, I´m not a man trying to grow boobs or anything, I have problems with my ovaries and the hormones in the pills regulate my body so I can function. Try explaining to your boss that every 28 to 30 days you´ll need two or three days off for another burst cyst. THAT´S why I take the pill, and god help any self-riteous pharm. that tries to tell me he won´t fill my perscription.

I had to take 6 weeks off from work for a HUGE cyst on my right ovary. I was taking 3200 mg of Ibuprofen a day for pain. My Dr. took a wait & see approach. It burst.

My Dr. recommended I take the pill to avoid it happening again.....I declined. I still have problems with cysts almost 7 years later but nothing like that first one.

I´ve had three blow on me in one year. Twice I was driven to the hospital, and once I was taken in an ambulance and it contributed to a miscarriage. I now have two healthy children, and the baby-making is done for good. Don´t tell me I can´t have my pills! Giving birth was less painful than a burst ovarian cyst.

1) A pharmacist´s JOB is to fill prescriptions, not to pick and choose WHICH prescriptions to fill. If he or she cannot do that, He/she should find another line of work. It is the doctors job to decide which meds a patient should take.

I work in the bowels of a newspaper as a forklift operator. My job is to retrieve pallets of ads from the warehouse and deliver them to the machines that insert them into the paper. If I refused to get an insert because I did not agree with it, I would be out of a job...NOW!!!

2) "Life begins at conception."

Funny ... The Bible that all the fundies keep thumping says that life begins at birth. If Joseph and Mary had gotten to the census before Jesus´ birth, they would have been counted as TWO, not THREE.
