If the oil reaches siesta beach it will devestate the area. What a loss. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 871317Siesta Key has the most unique crystalline sand found NO-WHERE ELSE in the entire world. It's now in danger of being lost forever. |

Oiled in Florida (OP) User ID: 959891 United States 05/03/2010 01:32 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Has there been a state of emergency declared in any other state? LIke Louisiana for example? Aren't they closest? Quoting: Anonymous Coward 751667On April 30, Governor Haley Barbour issued a State of Emergency for the Mississippi Gulf Coast in response to the oil spill. He also ordered the Mississippi National Guard to aid local officials with emergency response. |

It doesn't mean the oil will reach them. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 959959I really wish your optimism were possible, but, sadly, it's not. |

We have some beautiful beaches here, and I hate to think of all the fish and wildlife that could be hurt over this... Pelicans, dolphins, manatees, etc... this could be very bad. Thanks for the notice OP. |

HerdChemist User ID: 666784 United States 05/03/2010 01:48 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Man, this just plain SUCKS. I live in Polk County and trailer my boat over to Tampa all the time to go fishing. I am afraid that this will become a muych larger disaster than anyone initially envisioned... I think that this is the "coastal event" that Peoplenomics and George Ure have been blogging about for the last several months. .. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 772489Thanks for the notice OP. Yeah, Manatees on the west coast - and isn't that the only place they live? Funny, I have 2 plastic bags of white Florida sand from near Homasassa Springs I brought back 2 years ago last I traveled there. Maybe I better hold onto it. |
