There are so many easy ways it seems. Put a flexible thick rubber pipe in the hole.

The only thing that is built right now, that is both big enough and heavy enough to seal this thing off, is a decommissioned aircraft carrier that weighs 80k tones or more.

Just sink that on top of this mess then allow that to buy enough time to drill a relief well.

I really cant believe you said that. Didn't you mean "hit it with a really big freekin hammer"? :) That would be more in line with the ongoing problem IMO.
Why aren't they using straw to soak up and contain the iol from washing ashore. I saw these guys on Youtube and they seemed like they had a workable solution for getting the oil before it reached shore.
