Romania pending big rally Wednesday, pickets at the headquarters of the Government and Presidency
Wednesday, however, 60,000 people are expected at the biggest rally in 20 years.

The five trade union confederations will gather people in the Government, both budgetary and private sector employees. May 19 is the day we celebrate three years of the referendum to suspend President Traian Basescu.

Trade unionists in Victoria Square will protest against the austerity measures announced by the Government, following the memorandum agreed with the International Monetary Fund. The five central trade unions in Romania say they will gather more than 60,000 people from all sectors, and will block downtown Bucharest for two hours, between 11.00 and 13.00.

Thus, Cartel Alfa brings 15,000 people, the National Trade Union Bloc (BNS) - over 10,000 CNSLR Brotherhood - 15,000 union, the Confederation of Democratic Trade Unions of Romania (CSDR) - about 15,000 people and Meridian - about 5,000 people.
