Quoting: Anonymous Coward 993523It's so sad to watch this unfold. Sorry for your pain Tessa. it is terribly sad i can't even imagine how the people that live in the affected places are feeling right now "Whether this song is about sex, drugs, or Ramen Noodles, it's moving. TX PATRIOT User ID: 950567 United States 06/05/2010 01:59 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | This is what I don't understand: there are long established contingency measures for oil spill cleanup; why aren't they being followed to protect the beaches...ALL the beaches? At minimum and in response to a LACK of action on BP or other, this should be conducted at the local level. A basic explanation: You trench the beaches. Deep trenches with sump pumps. When the oil and tar starts washing in, the water in the trench is siphoned off and the oil collects in the trenches. The contained oil is then bulldozed off and removed. My question is: why is this not being executed on ALL beaches??? There is no excuse. . |

THIS IS SOLELY BP'S FAULT and this collective guilt crap is nothing but garbage. I am not asserting that BP is not at fault for not following safe procedure, but to think that BP is the only company operating in this manner is simply an uneducated position. They do it in the US BECAUSE THEY CAN. By law, ALL of them can.......and do. It is systemic. Not so in other countries. And to blind yourself to your/my complicity is just, well, blind. Believe me, if there was no demand for this level of product, there would be no searching for supply. And if the US (corporate controlled Congress) were not so lax in drilling, safety and contingency response regulations in the US in going after the supply, then we would experience less of this destruction. One only need look at the laws and the safety record of the same oil companies operating in other countries. My point: understand this is SYSTEMIC...it is NOT just BP. It is driven by demand and followed by a lack of appropriate regulations to ensure safety in this country. It could have as easily been Shell, TOTAL, etc. On the other hand, be very, very careful in falling for support of Cap and Trade as this law has absolutely nothing to do with this issue. . |
