It's really lame how NASA talks like they've known this for forever.

Everything NASA says feels like:

"Yeah, we'll conditionally comment on our time selectively and you can just deal with it, even though the public should be as advanced as we are, as technology and space impacts everyone equally, at least ideally this would be the case, we'll act like we know better and you'll just deal with it like we said."

interesting. He mentions there that there would be a 30 - 40 hour window that we would have before it happens, but they wouldn't necessarily give the general population a warning.

I assume there are some here at GLP that monitor these things and would be able to give us fair warning ?

They can't possibly know it's going to happen specifically in 2013 unless they already know the impetus and have detected it and measured out it's arrival date.

I decipher their mention of 2013 as a way to minimize any panic but also to not downplay how soon it could occur.

They DON'T know it will happen in 2013. The sun is cyclical in its activity and will be most active with storms in 2013.

some woman wrote to PROJECT CAMELOT a while back saying her husband was away on an urgent top secret mission to frantically try to harden the electrical grid for a potential ELE event that was "due soon". she was not technically literate, so she couldnt go into great detail, she tried to get her husband to talk to them but he told her she had to stop writing to PC. How "they" know a solar event was coming soon was beyond me, but this sounded DEFCON 4

Even if the server is in a hardened data center it will not matter because all the places you travel through to get from your computer to GLP are NOT hardened. The net will be gone.

in any case, I suggest perma-pin and SERIOUS discussion about how and where to survive an X-Class+ flare.

Her husband was an electrical engineer and told her that something was up. He was scared to say anything publicly because they (NASA et all) were obviously being hush hush about it at the time.

We already know they're probably not going to do a full disclosure and fill us dopes in; they never do.

So it's critical we figure out what the impetus is exactly so we know what we'll be facing.

And yeah, they've known longer. That's why the homeland security webpages for specific states' instructions for preparedness include RURAL AREAS TAKING IN LARGE AMOUNTS OF PEOPLE FROM CIIIES THAT HAVE TO BE EVACUATED.

There still won't be any food, not enough for the rurals themselves much less for fleeing city folks.

Some kind of space dust whamming into the sun causes major solar flares.

On a hopeful note, in Strieber's unknown country archives there's a broadcast of LaViolette from like 01 or 02 where he flat out says a system like HAARP, but doesn't mention it by name, could help protect the earth.

So there's that small hope, but we can't count on that.

HAARP can strengthen / weaken the earths natural EM field.

Fleeing cities won't help. My best guess to survive an X-Class+ flare is underground, in subway tunnels for example..
