In southern India, upwards of 15,000 villagers have been forced to flee their homes, following a freak wave.

Small fishing hamlets in Kerala State were flooded by seawater, prompting fears of a tsunami.

NEW DELHI, May 21: At least 15,000 villagers were evacuated on Saturday after a freak tide caused a surge of sea water in the southern Indian state of Kerala , triggering memories of December’s devastating tsunami.
