The jist of what the OP is sayin about the weight of the water in the gulf and the ridge make sense. I seem to recall som1 postin a thread (SHR) about the collapsin of water into the whole in the earth at a certain point and the temp therein causin the water to steam up under the land plates.

This horn is possibility the sound of a the gulf droppin a few million(SS) gallons of water into a Calderon and then the blowin back up from whense it came and makin a bit of noise while it does kind of theory.

Its not the end of the world just some major changes happening that's all.
