does anyone own a basset hound?

My friend had one...it would owl at the moon all night....ALL night.

I've got one myself. Beautiful pet! Great with kids, intelligent and extremley loyal. One drawback...he thinks he's a lapdog sometimes, ha,ha! It didn't take long to house train him either!

they need a lot of attention like a kid. They're LOVABLE, RELATIVELY QUIET, BUT TRIP OVER THEIR OWN EARS. DONT EXPECT IT TO JUMP INTO YOUR CAR---THEY ARE SO LOW TO THE GROUND YOU HAVE TO PICK THEM UP.

Overall they are great. They are good with kids, like several short walks a day, and dont seem to bark too much. I'd get one without concern. My Sister has had one for about a year and after that yappy other breed, its a welcome member of the family.

well she changed her mind. doesn't know where she's going to live because she can't take the dog with her but can't bring herself to give her up, can't say i blame her, i'd never give up any beloved member of my family.

Dachshund ears are plenty long and floppy.

You could get a dolphin if you had any place to put one.
