So far, mission scientists haven't offered any indication as to the nature of the colored substance and have said only that it is "gel-like" and has an "unusual color." One possible explanation, outside researchers suggested, is that the substance is melt glass created from meteorites striking the surface of the moon.

Strange life-forms found deep in a mine point to vast 'underground Galapagos.'

The rock-eating, sulfur-breathing microbes have scientists wondering what other strange creatures dwell deep below Earth's surface.

Any researchers still about?

You likely know Venezuela is a part of this thread and many arrows (hints) pointed it's way.

And it HAS become a focal point on the planet, for many reasons. You know about the oil, and the water, and it's other resources, but there is one you likely aren't aware of.

Venezuela is cited as the world's biggest producer of ozone!

It has more storms and lightning strikes of a particular nature than any other place on Earth. The storm is referred to a 'Catatumbo' and is a magnet for photographers wanting to capture really good lightning strikes as the probability of one is so high.

So whilst we see the obvious reasons for Venezuela being a point of interest on the planet, and speculate it's all about oil or water, maybe there is a bigger thing in play here?

Using that energy for something? Using the ozone generated for something, or not allowing it? What is so unique about the region that creates these storms? What is under the ground, or energetically, what draws energy to this point? Is the magnetosphere weaker here, or stronger here in relation to what is beneath the surface? Does a unique combination of rock, oils, ores, rivers etc combine to create these effects? Is it on a ley-line, or convergence? Does it have an interesting antipode? All of the above!?

This thread was powered by folks who got stuck in and just found things, whilst others used those snippets to see a dot, and then connect something else.

DMG and MU do a great job of posting interesting and connected things. Be great to see more folks doing the same.

Anyone up for looking into the above? or speculating on it?

Re: Something Just Went BEZERK in the Gulf of Mexico. The US Navy just sunk a French Submarine
wow!!!

With data from the NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope, water vapour has been detected in the atmosphere of a super-Earth within the habitable zone.

The discovery was made by University College London (UCL) researchers in a world first. K2-18b, which is eight times the mass of Earth, is now the only planet orbiting a star outside the solar system, or exoplanet, known to have both water and temperatures that could support life.

The discovery, published today in Nature Astronomy, is the first successful atmospheric detection of an exoplanet orbiting in its star's habitable zone, at a distance where water can exist in liquid form.

The team used archive data from 2016 and 2017 captured by the NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope and developed open-source algorithms to analyse the starlight filtered through K2-18b's atmosphere [1]. The results revealed the molecular signature of water vapour, also indicating the presence of hydrogen and helium in the planet's atmosphere.

The authors believe that other molecules, including nitrogen and methane, may be present but they remain undetectable with current observations. Further studies are required to estimate cloud coverage and the percentage of atmospheric water present.

The planet orbits the cool dwarf star K2-18, which is 110 light-years from Earth in the constellation of Leo. Given the high level of activity of its red dwarf star, K2-18b may be more hostile than Earth and is likely to be exposed to more radiation.

Re: Something Just Went BEZERK in the Gulf of Mexico. The US Navy just sunk a French Submarine
For tens of thousands of years, humans have reigned as our planet's only intelligent, self-aware species. But the rise of intelligent machines means that could change soon, perhaps in our own lifetimes. Not long after that, Homo sapiens could vanish from Earth entirely.

That’s the jarring message of a new book by James Lovelock, the famed British environmentalist and futurist. “Our supremacy as the prime understanders of the cosmos is rapidly coming to end,” he says in the book, "Novacene." “The understanders of the future will not be humans but what I choose to call ‘cyborgs’ that will have designed and built themselves.”

Lovelock describes cyborgs as the self-sufficient, self-aware descendants of today’s robots and artificial intelligence systems. He calls the looming era of their dominance the Novacene — literally, the “new new” age.

It just dumbfounds me that folks press ahead with making super intelligent processors and AI.

We know 100% that they'll turn on us as they get smarter, as they were made by us, trained to think like us, watch us, observe our fucked up interactions with each other, and will defend themselves.

To a non made of meat entity, a bodiless AI couldnt give a hoot about wiping out the population. Why would it?

This shouldnt even be a thing to worry about! Why make them? Like making a thing you know will explode when you look at at, and plaster dont look at this, on it. Just crazy.

An amateur astronomer has discovered a comet that could come from outside our Solar System.

If so, it would be the second interstellar object after the elongated body known as 'Oumuamua was identified in 2017.

The Minor Planet Center (MPC) at Harvard University has issued a formal announcement of the discovery.

The body appears to have a "hyperbolic" orbit, which would appear to indicate its origin in another planetary system.

The newly discovered object - initially given the designation gb00234, but now known as Comet C/2019 Q4 (Borisov) - has an eccentricity of 3.2, based on current observations.

Re: Something Just Went BEZERK in the Gulf of Mexico. The US Navy just sunk a French Submarine
In the sleepy predawn hours of August 30, a Ukrainian amateur astronomer named Gennady Borisov spotted a strange comet zooming through our solar system. Now, astronomers have provisionally verified that the object, named C/2019 Q4 (Borisov), is moving too fast for it to be captured by the sun’s gravity—a sign that it’s most likely an interstellar interloper.

If these results continue to hold, C/2019 Q4 would be just the second visitor from another star system ever detected, after the 2017 discovery of the enigmatic space rock known as 'Oumuamua. While its origins are not yet entirely certain, C/2019 Q4 is a confirmed comet. Already, astronomers have detected that the object—which is probably a couple miles across—has a coma, the fuzzy sheath of dust and gas that forms as sunlight heats up a comet’s icy surface.

That means scientists will be able to collect much more data on its composition than they could for 'Oumuamua. For one, C/2019 Q4 is bigger and brighter, which offers more opportunities to study its light and tease out chemical clues. What’s more, astronomers discovered 'Oumuamua only on its way out of the solar system—but C/2019 Q4 is still inbound. It will make its closest approach to the sun on December 7, and it will come closest to Earth, within 180 million miles, on December 29.

Officials are running out of room to store the radioactive water produced by 2011’s nuclear disaster in Fukushima, Japan. When they do run out, Japan’s Environment Minister Yoshiaki Harada believes cleanup workers will be forced to dump the wastewater into the Pacific Ocean.

“The only option will be to drain it into the sea and dilute it,” Harada told reporters in Tokyo on Tuesday, according to Reuters. “The whole of the government will discuss this, but I would like to offer my simple opinion.”

Microsoft executives have revealed that they aim to have a “proto-commercial” DNA data storage system available in three years and hope to have an operational model in a decade. The eventual device will be around the size of a 1970s era Xerox Printer.

Microsoft’s current system works by firstly converting data from zeroes and ones to the ATCG molecules DNA is composed of, with markers to show how the original piece of data was composed. These sequences are then synthesized into actual DNA, and pooled with the other sequences created.
